Football journalist Dean Jones has revealed what Antonio Conte really thinks of Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer activity.

Spurs have signed seven new players – Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie. They have also made Cristian Romero’s loan move permanent, which many consider to be the icing on the cake of what has been a stunning window.

What Antonio Conte really thinks about Tottenham’s summer transfers

Many expected Daniel Levy to back Conte this summer after Spurs qualified for the Champions League. However, nobody really believed that the Tottenham president would sanction no less than seven new signings.

Spurs spent over £150million in the transfer window this summer – only five clubs in the country have spent more money.

That should make Conte a truly happy man, but sources close to the Italian apparently feel disappointment that his team failed to bring in at least one more player.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “I mean he’s happy with the job that’s been done.

“But, his loved ones definitely feel there was some disappointment, they couldn’t get one more.”

Tottenham were surprisingly calm on transfer deadline day in the summer.

Many fans expected them to try and bring in at least one new player, but the Spurs board decided they had done enough. Spurs haven’t brought anyone late into the window, which is probably why Conte is a bit disappointed.

The Italian reportedly wants a new right-back this summer – even after the arrival of Djed Spence, who has been branded by the Italian as a ‘club investment’.

No move ultimately materialized for Tottenham, but after signing seven new players in a window, Conte really can’t complain.
