The Mail takes home the award for best journalism as it wins Business Journalist of the Year

Ruth Sunderland, Group Editor Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday

Ruth Sunderland, Group Editor of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, has been named business journalist of the year.

She received the prestigious London Press Club award at a ceremony at Stationers’ Hall in the heart of the Square Mile.

Praising her “lucid” campaign and commentary, the judges said: “Ruth Sunderland continues to deliver her hard-hitting pieces on the biggest business, investing and economic stories of the day.”

Recent successes include the Save LV campaign to prevent the historic mutual insurer from being sold to private equity. The proposed sale to Bain Capital for £530m was ultimately rejected by LV members after months of campaigning by this newspaper.
