The Lowdown: Real Concern

It has been reported that there is “genuine concern” at board level over recent results and the position of the Goodison Park faithful in the Premier League table.

Lampard had lost eight of his 12 games as manager of the Merseyside club before today’s momentous win over Manchester United, so it looks like his long-term future is certainly still up in the air.

Latest: Tracking Handlers

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Brown claimed the board are likely now watching the other managers, in case they decide to unplug Lampard:

“It wouldn’t surprise me if they were monitoring managers across Europe.

“The owner has a lot of people in his ear advising him all the time, so you can see some names might come up if things go wrong.”

The verdict: attractive

It’s certainly tempting to hear that the board are apparently considering other managers to potentially replace Lampard, despite only taking the job a few months ago.

They have been linked with Rennes head coach Bruno Genesio but could also choose to give him to Duncan Ferguson until the end of the season.

However, they have retained faith in Lampard despite his poor start, and so may look to stay with the former Derby County and Chelsea boss unless things really start to go downhill.
