Reporter’s massive statement on Callum Wilson’s future at Newcastle United

It’s unbelievable that Callum Wilson is still Newcastle United’s top scorer this season despite being out since December after he suffered a long-term problem in the game against Manchester United. That doesn’t paint the full picture, as the former Bournemouth striker wasn’t very prolific before the injury either, and has only found the back of the net 6 times this season so far.

Newcastle United signed Chris Wood in the January transfer window from Burnley in a big £25million deal but it didn’t work out as hoped, the New Zealand international struggling to find the back of the net consistently.

So, the club are surely hoping that Wilson will be back in the mix as soon as possible, but journalist Dean Jones doesn’t think he will be a main player for them next season.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Jones said:

“They obviously want him back, but I don’t think Callum Wilson will be a main player for this team next season, to be honest.”

Will Wilson be a key part of Newcastle United’s starting XI next season?

It’s certainly pretty easy to see why such a claim would be made around Wilson’s future. He’s been out of action for a long time as their options up front are seen as a weakness for them at this stage.

So, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if the Magpies end up signing another striker in the upcoming summer transfer window, as they certainly need someone in their ranks who can find the back of the net consistently.

You have to feel that Wilson deserves a run in this in-form Newcastle United side and show what he can do with them. His goalscoring record was decent earlier in the campaign, but this team is on a whole different level right now.
