Reporter says Tottenham want Isaiah Jones more than Spence

Journalist Dean Jones told Give Me Sport he learned Tottenham Hotspur considered Isaiah Jones a bigger priority than Djed Spence this summer.

Spence has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham. In fact, reports have claimed Spurs were just £3m off the January asking price.

They remain in contention. And it has been suggested they are favorites to sign Middlesbrough’s incredible loan move this summer. However, it may be another player registered at Riverside Stadium who ends up higher on the wishlist.

Recent reports have suggested Tottenham want Jones. The 22-year-old has had a real breakout year after starting the campaign without making his league debut.

He has nine assists at the second tier. And his namesake has suggested Tottenham may actually want Jones more than Spence.

“From what I’ve been told, Isaiah Jones has actually become a priority player for Tottenham in the next window,” he told Give Me Sport.

Tottenham preferring Isaiah Jones says a lot considering Spence’s form

Spence is a player many clubs seem to be watching. Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Bayern Munich have already made contact over a potential transfer for the defender, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

So that says a lot that Tottenham might see Jones as a bigger priority for the summer.

Of course, Antonio Conte had the chance to study Jones closely when Spurs faced Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. Chris Wilder also called him an “exciting” player.

Jones has shown more of his versatility this term. He featured all over the pitch for Wilder’s side, including up front in their campaign opener against Fulham.

Spence is the player everyone raves about, especially with the 21-year-old starring in the cup for Forest.

But maybe Tottenham think Jones could be the youngster with the even higher ceiling.
