Sports journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Tottenham’s numbers have been taken aback by how quickly the club have completed most of their transfer business this summer.

Spurs have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the window so far, bringing in six new players after listening to requests from Antonio Conte (The Telegraph).

Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence are currently Spurs’ money signings, with the fee for their signings totaling around £90million (TransferMarkt).

Meanwhile, Spurs have secured the free transfers of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster, while centre-back Clement Lenglet has been loaned out for a season by Barcelona.

While Spurs should now focus on offloading players (Evening Standard), the move to bring in fresh blood early has come as a shock to some at the club according to Ornstein.

Ornstein told The Athletic’s YouTube channel: “One of the standout features of this transfer window for Tottenham is that they did their business early.

“It was brought to my attention by someone inside the club as a real surprise as we have seen so many transfer windows end on deadline day with Tottenham scrambling and dealing with get what they need and want.

“But now they’ve set up their stand with very heavy recruiting from the start.”

Boosts web opinion

Tottenham were expected to be active in this transfer window and they have not disappointed so far, making a host of solid additions in areas that needed to be addressed.

This is a big change from how they normally operate in the window, as they usually wait very late to complete most of their business as part of a money-saving exercise.
