West Ham United are among a host of clubs interested in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, according to a report from transfer insider Graeme Bailey.
The Lowdown: Gomez’s lack of minutes
The former Charlton Athletic man played a huge role in Liverpool’s 2019/20 title campaign, having made 28 league appearances alongside Virgil van Dijk.
However, a knee tendon injury, which he suffered while on international duty with England, ended his 2020/21 season in November, and Gomez has struggled to get back into the game ever since. Jurgen Klopp’s first-team shots.
After an injury-free run for Joel Matip and the arrival of Ibrahima Konate, the 24-year-old has barely played this season, having racked up just 102 minutes of Premier League football.
Hence, many rumors have arisen linking the defender with an exit from Anfield.

According to Bailey, via his Anfield Watch column, Gomez is now concerned about his future at Liverpool and wants to get more playing time.
The centre-back fears he will miss out on the England side, with Gareth Southgate, while a keen admirer, struggling to pick a player without first-team minutes.
As a result, a number of clubs are interested in signing Gomez this summer, who remains under contract until 2024.
These teams include Tottenham, Newcastle, Fulham, Everton and West Ham, all of whom are ready to fight for the signing of the Liverpool man.
The verdict: an excellent signing
On many occasions, Gomez has demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level. It wasn’t without praise, with Klopp hailing him as a ‘sensational footballer’.
Therefore, it’s easy to see why a myriad of clubs are slated for the 24-year-old, who still has so many years ahead of him to develop even further.
For West Ham, he would be a fantastic signing, especially given his experience at the top level and his current market value of just £22.5million. The defender’s wage demands would more than likely be viable for the club too, given his current weekly salary of £85,000.
Therefore, if Gomez has truly recovered from his long-term injury, he would be a fantastic addition to David Moyes’ squad.
