Alasdair Gold has revealed that Rennes are “very excited” to be able to sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham at such a competitive price.

Despite coming to Spurs from Swansea City as a highly rated young player, Rodon struggled to get a string of starts under his belt during his two years at the north London club.

The 24-year-old continued to shine in the center of a three-man defender for Wales, but that still didn’t prove enough for him to force himself into the Tottenham squad.

Spurs confirmed this week that Rodon has joined Rennes on a season-long loan deal, with reports indicating the French club have the option of making the deal permanent for around £16.7million. sterling (Football.London).

Gold has now revealed that all parties expect Rennes to activate the option to buy the centre-back and the former Swansea man is excited about his new adventure in Brittany.

The journalist said on his Youtube channel on Rodon’s move“He’ll be a really good addition for them, they’re very excited about it and from what I understand Joe Rodon is also very excited about it.

“It’s a time when all parties expect Rennes to accept this deal because it’s not that expensive and they know they will also make a profit on him when he moves to another club.”

Boosts web opinion

This deal is also smart for Tottenham as it means they would make a profit on the £11m they paid to sign him from Swansea two years ago if Rennes accepted the option of making the deal permanent .

Potentially making a substantial profit on a player who has hardly played in the last two club seasons is a very good deal.
