Reporter reveals if Romero should make squad for West Ham game – Spurs Web

Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has revealed that Cristian Romero is set to feature in Tottenham’s squad when they face West Ham United on Wednesday.

Tottenham announced on Tuesday that they have activated Romero’s option on a permanent basis, more than 12 months after his initial loan switch from Atalanta.

According to reports, the deal is set to be worth a total of £46.5m (Standard), which the North London club will certainly consider good value for money, given the impact the Argentinian has had since joining the club.

Romero suffered an abductor injury in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea a few weeks ago and subsequently missed clashes against Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Antonio Conte revealed in his press conference on Monday that the centre-back had started training with the team ahead of their London derby against the Hammers (Football.London).

Kilpatrick has now revealed the 24-year-old is set to be part of the matchday squad heading to the London Stadium.

Boosts web opinion

I don’t think we will see Romero start tomorrow because Conte won’t want to take any risks at this stage of the season. So, I expect Sanchez to be given the nod, but it will be interesting to see if there’s any rotation in the bottom three.

I’d be surprised if Conte gave Lenglet the start tomorrow as I suspect the Italian will want to keep the back three as they are. I expect Doherty, Bissouma and Richarlison to get their first starts of the season.
