TyC Sports Journalist Gaston Edul reported that Giovani Lo Celso is now in Spain, with the Tottenham midfielder hoping to make a permanent move to Villarreal.

Lo Celso excelled during his loan spell at El Madrigal in the second half of last season and reports over the past two months have indicated Unai Emery is keen to bring the midfielder to the club on a permanent basis this summer (Todofichajes).

Esport Base Media Journalist Xavi Jorquera Marquez even claimed over the weekend that the La Liga club have stepped up their pursuit of the Tottenham man.

However, reports from Italy continue to indicate (Calciomercato.it) that the race for Argentina is still wide open and both Napoli and Fiorentina have their eyes on the midfield.

Edul has now taken to social media to claim that a return to Villarreal remains Lo Celso’s number one priority.

The reporter says the Yellow Submarine must have a ‘final meeting’ with Spurs to agree a deal with the former Real Betis player.

He added that Fiorentina are waiting to pounce if Villarreal are unable to agree a deal with the north London club for Lo Celso.

Boosts web opinion

With less than a month until the transfer window closes, it will be a huge challenge for Paratici and co to push through the sales (or loans) of Lo Celso, Ndombele, Tanganga, Reguilon, Emerson, Winks and Gil.

I can’t help but feel that we’ve pushed ourselves too hard and will therefore be forced to accept less than market value for many of the aforementioned players over the next few weeks.
