Reported Arsenal target Ruben Neves could finally decide to leave Wolves this summer, according to Dean Jones.
The reporter was speaking to GiveMeSport about the midfielder’s future ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
In April, Sky Sports reported that Mikel Arteta had made Neves a top target for his Arsenal midfielder.
The report claimed that the Gunners may have to pay around £60m for the Portugal international.
And at the end of last month, 90Min claimed that Neves wanted to leave his current club, with circles like Arsenal.
However, Wolves boss Bruno Lage recently suggested that Neves could fetch up to £100million in this current market.
“When you have a top player like him in that specific position… the big teams are there with £100million to buy those kind of players,” Lage told BBC Sport recently.
“Big decision to make”
Jones has now claimed Neves and Wolves are in talks over his future at Molineux.
However, he feels that the two parties may have realized that “the time has come” for the two to go their separate ways.
“I think Wolves are going to struggle to keep him this year,” he wrote on GiveMeSport.
“Discussions are ongoing on a new deal, but I think both sides realize that now may be the time for them to move on.
“I’m sure Ruben Neves this summer will have a big decision to make for his future.”
Neves’ contract runs until 2024, so his club’s hand would be quite strong in the negotiations.
But if Arsenal signed him, they would have a “sensational” player, in the words of Gary Neville.
Neves is heading to the peak of his career, is world class and has plenty of Premier League experience to boot.
The likes of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard and Mohamed Elneny have done well for Arsenal.
But they don’t yet have the strength in depth to take it to the next level.
Neves is someone who would continue to help them achieve that goal.
