The applicant

Northern Territory Broadcasters Mix104.9FM/Hot100 are seeking a Broadcast and Online Journalist to join our high-energy news team. You will be responsible for delivering afternoon newscasts and posting original news stories on our websites and social media platforms.

The person we are looking for will have an active interest in local affairs and be able to develop a network of contacts. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, a willingness to learn and is not afraid of the occasional 4am departure.

Salary

$53,000 – $71,000 depending on experience

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research, research and prepare reports
  • Interview, record, edit captures for broadcast
  • Write and present local hourly or half hourly bulletins, headlines and reports for broadcast
  • Convert radio scripts into online stories to share on our websites and social media
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships within the radio network and community
  • Be able to make sound editorial decisions about the best angle from which to approach a story

Experience required

To be considered for this position, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Graduate degrees in journalism or communications
  • The ability to work within specific deadlines
  • A thorough understanding of media legislation guidelines and industry codes of conduct
  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills
  • One year of experience in broadcast media preferred but not essential
  • The ability to adapt the style of writing and presentation according to market needs
