Liverpool star Diaz ‘stuns’ pundit amid early team news from reporter

Diogo Jota will understand if he’s replaced by Luis Diaz in Liverpool’s starting XI against Villarreal, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Premier League goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insiderclaimed Liverpool’s front five “have to accept” the rotation as they challenge on the remaining three fronts this season.

Jota replaced Diaz in the Merseyside derby starting XI on Sunday, the latter being a late substitute in the 2-0 win.

According to James Pearce of The Athletic (April 26), Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Jordan Henderson are up for recalls in the starting lineup on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side host Villarreal at Anfield in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Robinson praised Diaz for his “incredible” cameo against Everton.

“It’s not about keeping your place at Liverpool anymore, not when it comes to those front three,” he said Football Insiderit’s Dylan Childs.

“Klopp is just rotating those top five and picking players who are suitable for the game.

“Diaz came against Everton and was amazing. He was a revelation. He plays with such confidence.

“If you’re Jota and you’re replaced by Diaz for the semi-finals, I don’t think you see that as being dropped.

“You play for one of the best clubs in Europe and when you fight for every trophy you are not guaranteed to play every week. They have to accept that they will not play every week.
