Speaking to Anfield Watch Q&A, journalist David Lynch made a very promising transfer request involving Liverpool target and Fulham striker Fabio Carvalho.
The Lowdown: Liverpool reach agreement…
During the January transfer window, Liverpool were close to agreeing a deal for Carvalho but were unable to complete the necessary paperwork in time to formalize the transfer.
Indeed, the Reds shook hands on £8million to sign the scintillating teenager in winter but Anfield officials were unable to finalize his documentation before the 11pm blackout.
Jurgen Klopp, however, hasn’t given up on signing Carvalho and is a big fan – having previously told the press that Liverpool would be ‘crazy’ if they didn’t maintain interest.
The Latest: Lynch argues Carvalho…
Speaking to AW, reporter Lynch argues Liverpool should complete the move this summer, saying personal terms shouldn’t be an issue.
When asked for an update on Carvalho’s situation, he said:
“Liverpool have already reached an agreement to sign Carvalho in January, they just couldn’t finalize things due to time constraints. The two clubs however just shook hands on the same agreed figure and have just pushed back to the summer in order to avoid going through court. With personal terms probably not going to be an issue (let’s be honest, they tend to be agreed to in advance anyway), I expect to Carvalho becoming a Liverpool player at the end of this season.
The verdict: promising update…
Judging by this update, it looks like Carvalho is much more likely than not to be a Reds player this summer in a big boost for Klopp.
The 19-year-old has shown real signs of promise in the Fulham Championship at such a young age, scoring seven goals and assisting six more in 27 appearances.
He was also hailed as the ‘perfect fit’ and ‘perfect playing style’ for Klopp by former Leeds striker Noel Whelan, while members of the English press showered Carvalho with even more praise.
South London Press sportswriter Richard Cawley called the Portugal Under-21 international “absolutely unplayable‘ earlier this season and the news of his likely move to Liverpool could very well excite supporters.
