Journalist Dean Jones has claimed Daniel Levy was disappointed Gareth Bale couldn’t play in front of most Spurs fans when he returned to the club on loan in the 2020/21 campaign.

Bale’s return to north London hasn’t turned out to be the fairy tale Spurs fans would have hoped for, with the winger struggling to secure regular starts under Jose Mourinho.

The Welshman showed his quality again in the final third, scoring 16 goals in all competitions (Transfermarkt) but his relationship with Mourinho appeared quite strained (Guardian).

The 32-year-old was unable to play in front of a packed Tottenham Hotspur stadium last season with the majority of the campaign being played behind closed doors due to the pandemic.

El Nacional claimed two months ago that Bale could return to Spurs for a third spell when his contract with Real Madrid expires this summer.

However, this was rejected by people like The evening normwho indicated the winger could hang up his boots if Wales fail to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

Jones has now spoken to GiveMeSport about Bale’s return to Spurs last season: “His big disappointment (of Levy) was that most of the fans didn’t get to see him. It was his biggest disappointment with Bale’s return last time out. »

Boosts web opinion

I think most Spurs fans have the same disappointment with Bale. The atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would have been electric with the return of the Welshman and it would have potentially galvanized the club last season and led to a much better result than the eventual seventh place we achieved.
