Journalist gives disturbing update on Newcastle United

It’s no secret that Newcastle United are looking to add another striker to their ranks this summer. The Magpies saw Callum Wilson and Chris Wood struggle in front of goal last season. If they are to improve their 2021/22 campaign, the club will need someone who can find the back of the net on a regular basis.

Of course, many would point out that Wilson spent a lot of time injured last season and never had a run at an in-form Newcastle United, and he could actually prove to be a good option. But at the same time, it would be a major risk not to make an advance addition solely on this theory.

It looked like Newcastle United were closing in on a move for Hugo Ekitike earlier this summer but that didn’t happen and he ended up at PSG instead. Players like Alexander Isak, Timo Werner, Armando Broja, Duvan Zapata and several others have also been linked with the Magpies but nothing has happened so far.

Now, it looks like there aren’t many options for Newcastle United, when it comes to the type of striker they are looking to sign. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Keith Downie said of the situation:

“There are very few strikers available in the mold they are looking for. I have spoken to a few different agents and people involved in trying to get striker deals in this window and there are so little there.

Newcastle United may have to start the season with Wilson and Wood

With the start of the Premier League season fast approaching and no deal appearing to be agreed at the moment, it is very possible that the Magpies will start the season with the options they currently have in the striker.

Of course, it could very well give Wilson and Wood another chance to show they are good enough to be Newcastle United’s main striker this season.

It remains to be seen how things will pan out but it would be a major surprise if they don’t sign another striker.
