‘In an ideal world’ – Journalist reveals what Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah told him about his future

Journalist Chris Flanagan believes Mohamed Salah is not worried about his future at Liverpool amid delays in contract negotiations. As things stand, the 29-year-old winger has less than 18 months remaining on his current deal at Anfield.

Chris Flanagan recently interviewed Mo Salah on behalf of FourFourTwo. In the interview, the Egyptian said that the Reds fans know what he wants and it’s not all about the money.

Chris Flanagan gave more information on his interview with Mohamed Salah at This is Anfield. The reporter reportedly said the following:

“He seemed very relaxed about everything, including his future. I’m sure in an ideal world he would have preferred a new deal to be signed and sealed already, but I didn’t feel like he was stressed about it.”

He added:

“In fact, I specifically asked him if he was worried about potentially entering the last year of his contract without the situation being resolved, and he insisted that he was not. I had felt like his number one goal was absolutely to stay at the club, but he was willing to wait a little longer to get the best possible deal if that’s what it takes.”

I had a very interesting in-depth conversation with Mo Salah to @FourFourTwo‘s, out on Thursday – insisted his contract talks weren’t just about money, but revealed his aim to overtake Ian Rush as the club’s top scorer. Say – it will take him a few years to do it.fourfourtwo.com/news/mohamed-m…

When asked what the Liverpool superstar meant when he said ‘the fans know what I want’, Chris Flanagan replied:

“I think when he said ‘the fans know what I want’ he was referring to the fact that he wanted to stay at the club and renew his contract, which he alluded to previously and re-confirmed in this interview.”

He added:

“He wanted to make it clear that these negotiations were not just about finances – he said he couldn’t describe the exact situation, and I personally can’t claim to be privy to definitive information about the talks, but my best I suppose he could have been referring to the length of the contract in question.”

Mohamed Salah has produced outstanding numbers for Liverpool this season

Mohamed Salah has once again been Liverpool’s talisman as they continue to target an unprecedented four-fold. The former Chelsea and FC Basel star is currently the club’s top scorer this season.

As things stand, the 29-year-old winger has scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions. Salah recently scored a brace against Manchester United in a 4-0 win.

📊 STAT: Since joining Basel in 2012, Mo Salah has only been sidelined through injury for 15 games. Salah has only been unfit for selection on THREE occasions during his time at Liverpool – and one of those was when he tested positive for Covid. #awlive [mirror] https://t.co/HvStO0PDlD

Mohamed Salah is also currently top of the Premier League Golden Boot charts. The Liverpool winger currently has 22 league goals and is five clear of Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-Min.
