West Ham United boss David Moyes ‘has been on the hunt for a striker’ and is an admirer of Blackburn Rovers hotshot Ben Brereton Diaz, according to the reporter Pete O’Rourke.
The Hammers are preparing to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday, but it seems that hasn’t stopped Moyes from considering the summer transfer window.
What’s the latest on Brereton Diaz?
According to a respected Italian journalist Rudy GalettiMoyes is looking to take advantage of the free agent market and Brereton-Diaz is among those the Scot is watching closely.
West Ham were also linked with the Blackburn man during the January transfer window, but a move away from Ewood Park did not materialise.
The Hammers aren’t the only club keen to offer Brereton Diaz a route to the Premier League, as Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Everton strugglers are also monitoring his situation.
Brereton Diaz’s career at Blackburn is set to come to an end as his contract is due to expire this summer.
The 23-year-old’s hopes of a move away after bringing the former Premier League champions back to the top flight are currently on the edge as Tony Mowbray’s side are three points clear of the Championship play-off places.

What did Pete O’Rourke say about Brereton Diaz?
O’Rourke understands Moyes is aiming to welcome a frontman to the London Stadium when the transfer window reopens.
The reporter also believes the West Ham chief is a fan of Brereton Diaz – who has been described as a ‘beast’ by Blackburn boss Mowbray – and, therefore, could be looking to win the race for his signature.
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “We know David Moyes was looking for a striker and he also likes Ben Brereton Diaz at Blackburn.”
Why is Brereton Diaz of interest to West Ham?
Brereton Diaz has scored 39 goals during his senior club career, with 21 of those efforts coming this season, underlining that it has been something of a breakthrough campaign for the leader.
The 23-year-old’s prolific form has also earned him international recognition, earning him 12 caps for Chile and finding the back of the net four times.
Jarrod Bowen has racked up 24 goals and 21 assists since moving to east London from Hull City for £22million, showing Moyes has enjoyed success securing the services of some of the Championship’s best talent.
