The Lowdown: Alternatives to Winks?

Taking to Twitter, Italian football journalist and transfer expert fabrice romano has now revealed talks between Tottenham Hotspur and the Goodison Park side over signing Harry Winks are “going slowly” as Spurs could try to include him in a potential deal for Richarlison.

This means the Merseyside club may have to move on to other targets, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Georginio Wijnaldum having recently been named as potential midfield alternatives for the Lilywhites.

The last one: two other targets…

Writing in his latest article for The Daily Telegraph, reliable journalist Matt Law has revealed that the Toffees are now interested in Chelsea duo Gallagher and Gilmour.

Again, they could be seen as potential alternatives to Winks, or additional arrivals if Frank Lampard is serious about solidifying his midfield options for next season.

The verdict: integrate both!

If the Blues can, they should look to bring in Gallagher and Gilmour, either on loan or on a permanent deal.

They are currently valued at £22.5m and £10.8m respectively on Transfermarkt, and funds could be raised through the potential sale of Richarlison, among other players.

Gallagher in particular impressed last season, scoring eight goals and providing a further five assists in total across all competitions from midfield while on loan at Crystal Palace (Transfermarkt), while Gilmour also has plenty of promise at 21, having broken into the Scotland national team last year.

Still, if a deal for Winks didn’t go over the line, the pair would be more than suitable alternatives.
