Tottenham Hotspur ‘certainly have an interest’ in Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer, says reporter DeanJones.
Spurs are believed to be in the market for a new central midfielder and could switch to the 25-year-old who is expected to be available on a cut-price deal due to his contract situation.
What is the latest news about Tielemans?
Tielemans’ existing deal is due to expire in June 2023 and he is not expected to put pen to paper on new terms at Leicester, meaning an imminent exit is firmly on the cards.
According to The Times, Tottenham are interested in the Belgium international, while local rivals Arsenal are also keen to steer him away from the King Power Stadium.
transfer specialist fabrice romano recently provided an update on Tielemans’ situation, saying the Gunners are “still interested” although a deal is not imminent.
Romano also revealed that two other clubs are ‘also in the running’ for creative talent leaving Leicester for good, but Spurs may need to act sooner rather than later.
That’s because The Telegraph claims Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is pushing club bosses to make an opening bid worth £25million for Tielemans to test resolve the foxes.
What did Jones say about Tottenham?
Tottenham are believed to have made academy graduate Harry Winks available for £25million after he slipped down the pecking order from Antonio Conte at Hotspur Way.

And Jones has confirmed Tielemans is on the capital club’s radar as they search for replacements, but insists ‘it wouldn’t be the end of the world’ if they miss out on his signature.
He told GiveMeSport: “The future of Youri Tielemans is also up in the air. He has a few interested clubs. Tottenham certainly have an interest there, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if they didn’t. »
Would Tielemans be a good recruit?
Tielemans, who was previously described as “fantastic”, has managed to revive his promising career at Leicester after struggling to find his best form at AS Monaco following his departure from boyhood club Anderlecht.
His long-term winner against Chelsea in the 2021 FA Cup final means he has written his name permanently in Midlands team folklore, but he may have overtaken the club now.
According to FBref, Tielemans ranked in the 94e percentile for total number of shots, 89e for expected assists, 88e for progressive passes and 85e for shot-creating actions compared to fellow central midfielders over the past year.
The control Tielemans would bring to Tottenham’s engine room may please Conte as he weighs his options in the upcoming transfer window, adding another dimension when in possession.
