Arsenal star Martinelli set to miss World Cup as reporter reveals Brazil’s 26-man squad

Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli could miss the World Cup with Brazil boss Tite set to snub the in-form star, according to a reporter.

The Brazilian has been in fantastic form for the Gunners so far this season with five goals and two assists in 13 Premier League starts.

He helped Arsenal rise to the top of the Premier League table but his form would not have been deemed good enough for a place in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

With his knowledge of Brazilian football, UOL Sports journalist Bruno Andrade (via The boot room) revealed Brazil’s 26-man squad for the World Cup later this month.

Andrade’s team is as follows: Alisson, Ederson, Weverton, Danilo, Dani Alves, Alex Sandro, Alex Telles, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Militão, Bremer, Casemiro, Fabinho, Fred, Bruno Guimarães, Paquetá, Everton Ribeiro, Neymar, Vini Jr, Raphinha, Antony, Rodrygo, Jesus, Richarlison, Pedro and Firmino.

Brazil face fierce competition for places in forward areas, with the Seleção boasting a number of top strikers who play for some of the best teams in the world.

Martinelli is currently under contract with Arsenal until 2024, with the club also holding an option to extend that deal for another two seasons and the 21-year-old recently revealed his happiness at the Emirates Stadium.

He told reporters: “I am very happy at Arsenal. I have said it several times. It’s my club. I like being here. I love the city, I love the club, I love everything about Arsenal. So I want to stay, I’m very happy.

Despite his positive comments, former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes his agent will take a different approach when it comes to signing a new contract at Arsenal.

Agbonlahor says talkSPORT“His agent is probably like ‘stop saying that, no, no, no, we’re not signing yet, I’m going to get you the most money and the best possible contract, which you did in the Premier League this season for Arsenal there will be a number of clubs that want you, so you’re going to get the best possible deal.”

“So it’s going to take a lot of negotiation, it’s going to be things like the signing fee is that amount, salaries have to go up every year, is your dad getting anything out of the deal? Does your mum get something?

“Are your sister and brother getting anything?” The contracts these days for some of these Premier League clubs are crazy.

“‘I want a free box, the box I get for my family, which needs to be included’, it could cost £50,000-60,000, it’s included. It’ll be other things the agents will think about” that can I add more?”
