Ekitike has been linked with a move to Wolves this summer after impressing this season for Stade de Reims. The 19-year-old has scored an impressive nine goals in 21 Ligue 1 games, and only 14 of those appearances have come as starters.

Wolves have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just 33 Premier League goals and only four teams scoring less than that.

Amid their goalscoring troubles, O’Rourke told GiveMeSport that Ekitike are “definitely” on Bruno Lage’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

He said: “Wolves have made a new striker a top priority this summer so Ekitike is definitely someone on their radar.

“It could be an interesting fight to see who can lure Ekitike away from Reims this summer. It looks like the wolves are here right now.

TIF’s thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Ekitike has been superb for Stade Reims this season, in Ligue 1 he is the club’s top scorer at a rate of one goal every 128 minutes, and for a 19-year-old that’s a remarkable stat. He was also noted for his ‘unimaginable’ rise after previous links with Newcastle United earlier in the year.

There is no doubt that due to his age and impressive stats, he will be on the radar of many top sides across Europe, and he could be a great option for Wolves as they seek to push on a European challenger that has become perennial in the Premier League. .

Raul Jimenez hasn’t been the same since his terrible injury, scoring just six goals in 29 league appearances this season, so it seems likely Lage will be looking to sign a new frontman this summer.
