Heroes Treated Like Criminals

Posted by Doug Ragan

According to Adm. Dennis C. Blair, the intelligence director, “High value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa’ida organization that was attacking this country.”

And according to Gen. Michael V. Hayden, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency under Mr. Bush, “the use of these techniques against these terrorists made us safer. It really did work.”

And of course  the Central Intelligence Agency told CNSNews.com Tuesday that it stands by the assertion made in a May 30, 2005 Justice Department memo that the use of enhanced techniques on al Qaeda leader Khalid Sheik Mohammed including waterboarding caused him to reveal information that allowed the U.S. government to thwart a planned attack on Los Angeles.

Water boarding is not torture, it does not inflict pain or harm. It is a trick to make your brain think you are drowning which causes you to panic. IT HAS SAVED LIVES.

Going back to a previous post, After weeks of interrogating a prisoner named Abu Zubayda, the CIA decided to use the method. He gave up information after about 30 seconds. So they accomplished in 30 seconds what they could not get done in several weeks. Not only did they find KSM, but they also learned from Zubayda just how important KSM was in the terrorist network. Zubayda also gave information on al-qaeda’s leadership structure and gave them additional names.

While interrogating KSM, his only response to them was “Soon you will know.” After subjecting him to water boarding, he suddenly became cooperative and gave information that led to the capture of key al Qaeda allies and, eventually, the closing down of an East Asian terrorist cell that had been tasked with carrying out the 9/11-style attack on Los Angeles.

Water boarding prevented a second 9-11 style attack. Yet democrats want those who told Bush to use this policy are being attacked by the left. Jay Bybee is being targeted for impeachment by the left for telling the truth about the technique. For helping prevent an attack on Los Angelas, the left including Barack Obama want prosecutions.

I’m updating this post with a question. What would Obama’s stance on water boarding be if these terrorists were holding his two girls prisoner and threatening to chop off their heads?

  2. The planned attack on LA was broken in 2002. Here is a White House factsheet on that:

KSM was captured in 2003. Despite what you have seen of the ticking bomb scenarios on “24,” torture does not provide the ability to send information backwards in time. What we are seeing now in the media is a flurry by Bush officials to justify war crimes.

  3. You need to pay better attention to your memos Russell.
The waterboarding of KSM led to the disruption of a terrorist cell that was planning another attack. There was more than one plot against LA.

  4. Russell,
How exactly is waterboarding a “war crime”? The fact that the Bush administration kept another 9-11 from happening just irks you on the Left to no end.
