Is Reverend Jeremiah Wright Part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy

Posted by admin

The timing of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy is starting to make me wonder who really went out of their way to bring it to light. Let’s be honest about a few things, then I will explain.

Things haven’t looked all that great for Republicans lately, and in turn, for John McCain. People from both sides are getting tired of Iraq. The price of oil and the credit crises are both being blamed on Bush and Republicans, despite the fact that this is far from the truth. It is very difficult for the party that is being blamed for the problems to win the White House, and right now Republicans are being blamed.

But the battle for the Democratic nomination has also turned into a battle to cause chaos and infighting in the Democratic party that could end up being their downfall this November. Rush Limbaugh has been telling Republicans to change parties and vote in the Dem’s primaries to drag the contest out. Democrats are calling on one of the two to concede because they are concerned about losing continuity. And many Democrats are speculating over which of the two has the best chance to beat McCain.

Let’s go back in time a bit, back before the contest began. Dick Morris said long ago that Hillary Clinton would be the nominee without a doubt, and that this was good for Republicans because the base would rise up to vote against her. This was a valid theory then, but may not be as good a theory now for a few reasons. At that time, Republicans were a bit more popular because the economy was moving up instead of down, and this was before conservatives felt betrayed over the border issue. A disinterested Republican party got McCain as the nominee, despite the fact that a lot of the far right don’t like him because of his stance on illegal immigration and other issues. He may very well be the nominee because the field was overcrowded with a group of men whom no one really wanted in the White House right now. Had there been no Fred Thompson or Mike Huckabee, Romney may have won the nomination. So with McCain as the nominee, the theory that Republicans will rise up to vote against Clinton isn’t as sound as it was a year ago. The rise up against Clinton would more than likely come from the far right, and the far right doesn’t like McCain that well.

Now of course is the other problem with the theory that Dick Morris gave us. It seems that Clinton may not get the nomination because of the cult like status of one Barack Obama who has still not come up with one good idea for this country. But McCain being the Republican nominee actually tosses something else into this equation. Obama is said to represent the far left by some pundits, while Clinton represents the more moderate left. McCain has always been known as belonging to the moderate right. So the independently minded are more likely to look at either McCain and Clinton, while staying away from Obama. Moderates who would like to vote for Clinton may actually vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee. So McCain may have an edge over Obama that he doesn’t have over Clinton.

So as Obama pulled ahead of Clinton some months back, Republicans started looking at the race and asking if they would rather see Obama or Clinton win the nomination. Rush started his operation chaos, Carl Rove started giving Obama advice on beating Clinton, and all hell broke loose. One could say that a prolonged contest added to an Obama victory actually gives McCain the upper hand in the general election. Obama was starting to run away with the delegates, but this was only one half of the solution. To give McCain a better position, the contest needs to drag on, so Clinton needed a boost.

Enter Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Now I know what you are thinking, that the Wright issue was brought to light by Clinton. But I disagree because I think she would have brought it in long before Obama took the lead in the delegate count. I know that people were aware of Wright long before it hit youtube and FoxNews because I was having conversation about him before it was big news.

Now the pundits have different views about this, especially since Wright decided to go on his little tour to make sure everyone knew just how far in outer space his views really are. One view is that Wright is simply his own man and that this is more about his 15 minutes than about the election. One view is that he went out to actually make Obama look like the victim in all of this, because we know how the liberals love a victim. Another is that Wright became angry at Obama because of his initial resonse, and is now doing this to sabotage his campaign. But my question is the timing of it all.

This came out only after Obama was so far ahead in the count that Clinton was being told she needed to drop out. This gave Clinton some fuel, but it doesn’t seem that it is enough to overcome the numbers. In other words, the contest drags on, and Obama becomes the Democratic nominee. This is the combination that truely helps McCain, at least according to some theory. So my question is, was this planned by the GOP? Obviously, they could have planned the timing of this being brought out in the open by simply getting together with Sean Hannity. But that doesn’t explain why Wright then went out on his tour.

To sum it up, I’m not here to answer any questions, but to ask one. Did someone on the right convince this man to sabotage Obama? And if so, how much bigger will this issue become after Clinton accepts defeat?
