In Johnson’s Footsteps, McCain Finds Republicans — WAPO — Greeted with whoops and cheers by a crowd in a packed courthouse here this morning, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) pledged to help small rural communities that have been largely overlooked by national politicians.
While McCain paid tribute to the fact that President Lyndon B. Johnson had journeyed to this tiny town 44 years earlier, to announce the War on Poverty, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee rejected the traditional government programs that Johnson and many Democrats have advocated for years.
McCain Manager: “Cracks” In Obama’s Coalition — TheAtlantic — Here’s a new memo from Rick Davis, John McCain’s campaign manager. You can see that the McCain view of Pennsylvania is similar to the Clinton view of Pennsylvania. Except for one fact: the McCain campaign believes that Obama will be the nominee.
The Friends of Barack Obama, Part 1 — Powerline — When Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer decided to retire in 1995, she hand-picked local left-winger Barack Obama as her successor. In order to introduce Obama to influential liberals in the district, she held a function at the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. This was, really, the beginning of Obama’s political career, and it linked him forever with Ayers and Dohrn, with whom, as his campaign has acknowledged, he continues to have a friendly relationship.
The Worst Of All Worlds For The Dems — Andrew Sullivan — Right now, the actual results suggest what I thought would be the worst possible result for the Democrats: a nine point win for Clinton. But what is striking in the exit polls is the polarization on three lines: gender, race and age.
So…..Who Will McCain Pick For VP? — SayAnything — If McCain picks more of the same - meaning another white male - and beats either Obama or Clinton in November the dogs will begin to howl.
New York Times Demands Hillary Stop Criticizing Hussein - Video: Hillary Fires Back At Times — Pat Dollard — No, the press isn’t corrupt, doesn’t try to force their choice of candidates on the country, and has covered the Iraq war fairly and with balance. Notice they also demand voters put a Dem in the White House. If voters are getting tired of Hillary’s campaign tactics, as the article claims, then why did she win? If voters feel as strongly about Hussein as the press claims they do, then why didn’t Pennsylvania’s Dems end the whole race and hand the nomination to Hussein when they had the chance and knew it?
Video: Hillary responds to the New York Times — HotAir — Matt Lauer gets first access to Hillary Clinton this morning on Today, so he gets to ask Hillary to respond to the New York Times’ editorial blaming her for the negativity.
Would Obama Lose 15% Of The Vote In A General Election Based On Race? — RightWingNews — According to the Politico, a “prominent Republican” says McCain will get an extra 15% of the vote in a race against Barack Obama,
Obama returns for that cheesesteak! — Malkin — Oh, good. I was worried he’d forgotten about that cheesesteak he promised he’d eat “next time”. Maureen Dowd confirms he’s a man of his word:
