Carnival of Political Punditry – January 13, 2008

Posted by admin

Welcome to the January 13, 2008 edition of carnival of political punditry. I did have some time to get a decent read of many of the articles that were submitted. I moved all of the Presidential Campaign posts to the top. While I’m thinking about it, don’t forget to see Troy’s most recent article “Would JFK Be Relevant Today?” He discusses how both parties have left the ideals of this President in the past.

DWSUWF presents Announcing: Disunity08 posted at Divided We Stand United We Fall, saying, “From the beginning Unity08 was indeed a Mike Bloomberg stalking horse, funded and staffed by Bloomberg loyalists. They couldn’t pull off the Bloomberg run within the Unity08 structure, so they closed up shop to make room for the imminent Bloomberg Independent candidacy, redirecting management and money resources to the impending campaign.”

Wenchypoo presents My Two Cents’ Worth–The Only Political “Change” You’ll Get From Me posted at Wisdom From Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket.

Shaun Connell presents Mike Huckabee — Christian Hypocrisy posted at Reason and Capitalism.

Ian Welsh presents John and Elizabeth Edwards: A Dream To Live For | The Agonist posted at The Agonist, saying, “Personal attacks against John and Elizabeth Edwards based on consistently underestimate the depth of the couple’s love, commitment, and shared vision.”

Ian Welsh presents The numbers say that support for John Edwards is surging. posted at The Agonist, saying, “Polling numbers show that support for Edwards is surging, and Edwards has momentum and staying power to last past the early primary states. And when Edwards’ support is growing despite a virtual media blackout, that means that something about him and his message is getting through and exciting people.”

GrrlScientist presents Some Thoughts About The New Hampshire Primaries posted at Living the Scientific Life, saying, “Just some thoughts about New Hampshire’s primary results and the news coverage of it. Reader comments are also interesting.”

Logan Flatt, CFA presents PowerWealth.com’s 2007 Person of the Year: U.S. Congressman Ron Paul of Texas posted at PowerWealth.com, saying, “PowerWealth.com’s 2007 Person of the Year is U.S. Congressman (and Medical Doctor) Ron Paul from Texas, who is actively running the most revolutionary campaign for President in modern U.S. history. Here’s why Dr. Paul deserves the honor.”

The rest are mixed, but I was happy to see a good number of articles here written from a more conservative view. This is a conservative blog, but I do usually get a high number of articles from the left. This is a good mix today.

Shaun Connell presents A Short Case for Big Business posted at Reason and Capitalism.

kcawley presents Atlas Will Shrug posted at Life, the Universe, and Everything, saying, “We sit back enjoying our lives as modern technology has made possible, but our fear of change will bring society to a screeching halt very very soon.”

Phil B. presents Illegal Immigration « Phil for Humanity posted at Phil for Humanity, saying, “With all the politicians talking about illegal immigration, I thought it would be a good idea to review the advantages and disadvantages of illegal immigrants.”

Kyle Davis presents Death Penalty posted at Fear and Loathing In Georgetown.

Jason Hughey presents Nicaragua’s Bravery posted at Logical Consistency, saying, “In October 0f 2007, the Associated Press wrote a deceptive article about Nicaragua’s abortion ban. Read about the response of three prominent Nicaraguan intellectuals who denounced the article as “misleading and grossly inaccurate.”"

Missy presents No Hunting in Pakistan posted at American Flag Waver.

BeThisWay presents Politics is a Big Pile of Moose Poopy posted at Are You Going To Be This Way The Rest of The Time I Know You?.

Ashok presents Why Having Vouchers For Education Is The Most Important Issue In America posted at Rethink., saying, “If the Left continues to control the academy and secondary and elementary schooling, the Right, strictly speaking, cannot expect to survive.”
