The Immigration Defeat Fallout

The United States Senate failed pass a cloture motion that would have ended the debate over the controversial immigration reform package. The final vote was 46 in favor of cloture and 53 opposed. This was a stunning turnaround from the earlier vote this week that allowed the debate to edge closer to passage. If you have read my previous postings on this sham of a bill, you already know my feelings on this issue. So I won’t bore you with the myriad of reasons why this whole debate was ridiculous. I do want to talk about the message that many of the Senators that were ardent supporters of this reform package have sent to the people of the United States.

Throughout the past month of debate, we have heard many “intellectual” Senators in favor of this reform deal deride talk radio; claiming that the talking heads like Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, and Ingraham were leading the public astray with their lies and distortions. These claims are not new, in fact we have heard these same claims from many of the same people that are crying foul now. The difference this time is that Republican Senators are joining the chorus.

Senator Trent Lott claimed that talk radio was running the country, and that something needed to be done about it. Senator Lindsey Graham said that the “loud people” were the ones opposing the bill. I find it amusing that these same Senators have no problem appearing on talk radio shows when the commentators are agreeing with their point of view, but as soon as there is disagreement, then talk radio needs to be silenced.

Senators Diane Feinstein and Dick Durbin have openly called for the discussion to start on the return of the “Fairness Doctrine” to rein in talk radio. Senator Jim Inhofe claims to have overheard fellow Senators Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer discussing the need to find a “legislative fix” for talk radio. Why do politicians, of both parties apparently, automatically resort to finding a “legislative fix” for silencing their opposition? After all, wasn’t that what the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act was all about?

Before my left leaning friends start the cacophony of agreement with these misguided Senators, let’s take a closer look at the possibilities of such an action. First of all, it is disheartening to see Senators looking into silencing opposition. Their claim is to want balance in the media, but who decides what is balanced? If it is left up to the Senators, then we would be reading about how this immigration bill flew through Congress with bipartisan support.

Secondly, would the policy change every 2 to 4 years depending on who was in control of Congress or the White House? Obviously not everyone believes that the 3 major news networks are unbiased, so how would we get everyone to agree on a set of standards of “fairness”? What I believe is fair is not necessarily what you believe. If the Democrats are in control then we have Al Franken on the all talk radio, but if the Republicans win then we have wall to wall Rush?

No one is stopping Air America from becoming a success. The only thing standing in their way is their management, and maybe their talent. Rush Limbaugh is a success because he is a very talented talk radio host. Does he espouse conservative principles? Yes he does, but he is also very entertaining at the same time. Air America had the idea of just hiring liberal hosts and expecting it to work because they were the alternative to Limbaugh. Like it or not, talk radio is a business. Without listeners, who drive the ratings, no advertisers are going to buy air time on your shows. To keep the listeners, you need to provide some value to them. If the “Fairness Doctrine” is implemented, then stations will be required to offer a balanced format from both sides. Limbaugh would not go away, he is the most listened to radio program in the country, he would just be followed by someone like Al Franken. Based on Franken’s ratings while on the air, the radio station would start to lose money on advertising. The station management would be left with 2 choices, stay with the current format and lose money, or change formats.

Where would the “Fairness Doctrine” stop? Would it be limited to just political commentary? Or would religious programming be affected as well? Would the local Christian music station be required to play secular music just to be “fair”. Would a station that airs “Focus on the Family” be required to air a secular equivalent to James Dobson? What about the internet? Would we still be able to post on blogs without providing a “balanced” approach? I realize that the internet does not fall under the same rules as radio, but once you start playing the “fairness” game, it is awfully hard to stop, especially for politicians.

Congressman Mike Pence introduced legislation in the House to prevent the “Fairness Doctrine” from ever become law again. In Pence’s words he says, "The Broadcaster Freedom Act will prohibit the Federal Communications Commission from prescribing rules, regulations, or policies that will reinstate the requirement that broadcasters present opposing viewpoints in controversial issues of public importance. The Broadcaster Freedom Act will prevent the FCC or any future President from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. This legislation ensures true freedom and fairness will remain on our radio airwaves, and I would encourage my colleagues to cosponsor and support this bill.”

Will this legislation ever see the light of day? Only time will tell, but I believe that any attempt to reinstate the “Fairness Doctrine” is the wrong action to take. We should question any politician that wants to stifle the opposition legislatively. Remember that even though you may not like Rush and what he stands for, the limits placed on him could eventually be placed on your interests in the future.

Ronnie Earle Loses Again

Why would a prosecutor indict someone for something that isn't illegal? Why would he then appeal a judge's decision to toss out the charge? Why is there no public outcry at this obvious breach of civil rights? Oh, it is happening to a Republican. Never mind then

For those who have forgotten the name of Ronnie Earle, he is the prosecutor who took cash from the Democratic Party to drum up false charges against Tom DeLay. You probably forgot all about this since there hasn't been any news about it since the Democrats took his seat from him. Since taking his seat was the only reason for these false charges, there has been no coverage in a while.

Well, long ago, a state district judge threw out one of the charges against DeLay for a really crazy reason. It turns out that this particular 'crime' was not on the law books at the time it may or may not have occurred. Let me make sure that I am clear. DeLay was indicted for a committing an act that was not against the law at the time the act occurred. He committed an act, a year later a law was created against that act. Get it?

Ronnie Earle, Democratic patsy and white collar criminal, managed to talk a Grand Jury into indicting DeLay for something that in fact was not against the law. The judge in the case tossed the charge. So what does Earle do? He appeals the tossing of a non-crime to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

I know exactly what you are thinking. Has Ronnie Earle ever studied law? And that is a good question. It turns out this guy is a prosecutor, so to be honest, I'm guessing he hasn't actually studied law at all. He starts by indicting someone for an act that is not illegal, and then he appeals when a judge realizes that the act isn't illegal and tosses out the charges. Incredible.

Hopefully Tom DeLay's attorneys, who apparently have actually been to law school somewhere in the United States, will take advantage of this. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, please remember when you make your decision one very important fact. Ronnie Earle is completely retarded. He proved this once by indicting my client for something that was made illegal after the fact. He proved it a second time when he wasted the time of the appellate court system by trying to have the tossed charges reinstated. The defense rests."

Ronnie Earle and the Democratic controlled Senate have something in common. They both like to pretend that things are illegal.

Internet a Front Line in Terror War

Experts are voicing concerns that extremist messages on the web may contribute to radicalization, even among residents of the United States.

"We couldn't put our finger on one thing -- whether it was mostly online sites or video," Chris Heffelfinger, an analyst for the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, told Cybercast News Service. "The threat is that the idea is so popular. Their goal is nationalism, but it's a virtual nation, and 80 to 90 percent of their propaganda is all virtual. Much of it didn't exist before the late 1990s, when they came online."

Someone must be reading the Huffington Post.

Why go to Iraq?

It is not for individual soldiers to refuse such orders. A soldier has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but individual soldiers simply cannot reasonably argue that a war itself is unlawful; that is a question that must be decided at the highest levels. If individual soldiers may decline to participate in a war, that is an invitation for mob rule: we agree to serve our country, not to serve when we agree with the decisions our leaders make. The system would not work otherwise.

Army Major Andrew Olmsted explains why he is going to Iraq.

Billions for Z Visas, Not a Cent for Security?

When proponents of comprehensive immigration reform decided they needed to sweeten the pot to get their bill passed, they added $4.4 billion that was supposedly to be spent up-front on border security. This was intended to partially satisfy the desire of millions of Americans that border security and employer enforcement be addressed first, and other measures considered only after we are satisfied that we have control over our borders.

Senator Jim DeMint was suspicious, however, and went to the Congressional Research Service for an opinion on how the $4.4 billion could be spent. The result was as you might suspect; what follows is DeMint's press release:

Middle East Quarterly: Jihad's New Leaders

Over the past year, a number of prominent terrorists -- including Shamil Basayev and Abu Hafs al-Urdani -- were killed on the battlefield, and there have also been a host of less publicized kills and captures. But although the death of any prominent terrorist is a victory for the United States and its allies, our terrorist enemies possess what CIA director General Michael Hayden has described as a "'deep bench' of lower-ranking personnel capable of stepping up to assume leadership responsibilities." As new terrorist leaders emerge, terrorist strategy is shifting discernibly.

Senators Defect from Supporting Shamnesty Bill

According to Bloomberg, a few supporters of the ILLEGAL immigration bill are defecting. It seems that they are defecting because they were trying to install more common sense amendments. Those amendments are in jeopardy, so the entire process is in jeopardy.

I would chalk this up to bi-partisan anger.

Kill the Bill. Then secure the border.

Congress Continues to Aid the Enemy

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate subpoenaed the White House and Vice President Dick Cheney's office Wednesday, demanding documents and elevating the confrontation with President Bush over the administration's warrant-free eavesdropping on Americans.

If one were reasonable, one would assume that a group of lawyers would be aware that the interception of communications from foreign locations for the purpose of gathering foreign intelligence is perfectly constitutional. One would assume that these lawyers were aware that these matters have been brought to Federal Courts and the Supreme Court and have been ruled upon.

One would then assume that since these lawyers were aware of this fact that they would stop trying to fight this program, knowing that it is perfectly constitutional and that it is necessary in the War on Terror.

Given that these lawyers are aware that it is Constitutional and that it is necessary to save lives, yet these lawyers continue to fight the program and question it in this fashion, one would have no other choice but to assume that these lawyers are trying to do everything possible to help terrorists succeed in another attack on America.

The Senate subpoenaed the White House because the Senate is full of people who support terrorism. The Senate will not rest until Al-Qaeda has succeeded in another attack upon America.

Capitol Hill's Deaf Ears

My guide began to tell me of the hundreds of faxes Congressman Saxton’s office receives daily related to the Immigration bill; a stack of faxes “two or three inches deep,” she remarked. But she assured me that the three inch stack was nothing compared the quantity of faxes her fellow aides said were being received by those Senators directly associated with the Immigration Compromise.

Naturally I had to ask what Congressman Saxton thought of the near 500 faxes a day he was receiving from Americans who felt betrayed by their representation. Her reply was that the faxes were immediately recycled and that the Congressman never sees them.

Quote of the Day and Some Thoughts About Shamnesty

"At this point, the people supporting this bill might as well be supporting putting crack in elementary school vending machines because quite frankly, it probably couldn't do much more damage to their political careers than this bill." John Hawkins -- rightwingnews.com

John lists a group of polls on his site this morning once again demonstrating a vile hatred of the Senate's Immigration Bill. But it is not only by Hawkins, nor just by conservatives, but also by liberals.

A Democracy Corps poll shows that democrats are evenly split over the issue. Voters said that they were more likely to support the bill if it tightened border security and stopped illegal aliens from getting government benefits.
SFGate.com has info on that poll. Rasmussen polls show that only 20% of American voters support the bill, while almost 70% want an approach that focuses "exclusively on securing the border and reducing illegal immigration."

This has got to be the strangest paradox in political history. If you look at most polls, you will find that the splits are partisan. Example,
look at a poll regarding George Bush and the economy. About 40% of voters give him high marks on the economy. If you break in down by party, 77% of Republicans give him high marks while only 10% of Democrats agree. On this issue those who would normally support a Republican president praise him, while those who would not support a Republican president do not.

Immigration is a different animal. This bill, and the president who is pushing it, is opposed by the left and the right. On this issue, the President gets high marks from 24% of Republicans and 10% of Democrats.

But despite this uniform opposition from the left and the right, the Senate and the President are on television daily explaining to us that they are pushing this reform because that's what American voters want them to do. And there was much confusion in the land.

Look, I'm not one to trust polls because I know that they can be skewed by biased pollsters. I also know that 90% of the people responding to these polls have done not one bit of research into the subject matter. But this is more overwhelming than most. There is no support for Immigration Reform, but we have morons in DC who swear to us that it has vast support and that it is absolutely necessary. How is this even possible? Have Bush and Cheney stopped watching Fox News?

Completely left out of the debate in DC is the fact that there is no support for this bill. Completely left out of why there is no support for this bill is the fact that Congress was not given permission to create new laws in an effort to cover up the fact that it refused to enforce laws that have been on the books for decades.

Take a look at
what Hawkins has to say. If I keep typing, I'm going to get angry and punch my monitor.

Peter Mehlman, Proud Member of the Nazi Party

Peter Mehlman is perfect for the Huffington Post. He really is. While most of the crew there is expressing their hatred of the Bush administration for preventing the terrorist attacks on JFK airport, Peter is telling us that Hitler meant well when he murdered 6 million Jews.

"You could argue that even the world's worst fascist dictators at least meant well. They honestly thought were doing good things for their countries by suppressing blacks/eliminating Jews/eradicating free enterprise/repressing individual thought/killing off rivals/invading neighbors, etc." (From Peter Mehlman's Nazi propaganda piece.)

That is a quote from his recent article in which he pulls a Kanye West and tells us that George Bush has not done one thing in 6 years to help the country. "What no one is saying is the one overarching reason he's the worst: the Bush administration is the first that doesn't even mean well," proclaims the Nazi.

According to this Nazi, George Bush did not mean well when he pushed for changes to the tax code which prevent millions of the nation’s poorest families from paying federal taxes. He did not mean well when he asked for standards that held schools accountable for teaching children. He did not mean well when he pushed for changes that helped millions of small business owners find new tax exemptions so that they could hire more employees. He did not mean well when he removed two terrorist regimes from power.

No, he did not mean well, not according to Peter Mehlman. But Mehlman believes that Hitler meant well when he shoved 6 million Jews into gas chambers. Saddam Hussein meant well when he stuffed fathers, mothers and children into meat grinders. Uday Hussein meant well when he would rape young girls and then have his body guards kill them. This is what Peter Mehlman believes

Peter has shown us a new side of himself. He has shown us that he is a Jew hating Nazi. He has shown us that he hates black and believes they should be enslaved. He has shown us that he believes in the assassination of political enemies. He has shown us that he believes all of these things are fine, and that fighting to free people is evil.

Peter Mehlman is a Nazi.

This article is set up for "google bombs" which basically means that keywords are hyperlinked to specific web pages. In this case, the word Nazi is linked to Peter's bio at the Huffington Post. If this were repeated at enough sites and blogs, then a google search for the word Nazi could lead to his bio.

On that note, if you happen to be opposed to the attempt by Hitler to exterminate the Jews and you feel that Mehlman's views should be opposed, please post this article, including the hyperlinks, onto your blog or website. Just make sure that you credit this site and link back to the permalink. Thanks.

The Fraud Of Illegal Immigration

The President and Congress refuse to listen to the American people and let the latest version of the immigration reform bill die. The proponents of the bill speak about the need to do this now and that any changes will render the entire bill meaningless. They vilify anyone who dares to question the aspects of the bill. They have used a myriad of insults and labels to try to quiet the deafening outcry from the very same people who voted them into power.

The latest poll done by
Zogby International has shown that virtually no one in the country believes that Congress or the administration is properly handling the illegal immigration issue. A paltry 9% of respondents support the President’s efforts on this topic. As bad as Bush’s numbers are, Congress rates even lower at a shocking 3%. These numbers are even more surprising when it is revealed that the illegal immigration issue is the second most important issue facing our country today. How can a President and a majority of Congress ignore over 90% of the American public?

Over the past several weeks we have witnessed many of the advocates of this bill go on a media blitz to try to win support. All of them use the same lines about how we are all just wrong about the bill and how now is the only time we can accomplish this reform. There are several questions that have risen up in my feeble little mind while listening to the rants.

First of all, we are told that this bill does not provide amnesty because those that are here illegally must pay a fine and wait about 8 years before they can become citizens. In the meantime they can apply for Z visas and live and work as normal U.S. citizens. This aspect of Z visas is a slap in the face of all of the legal immigrants that are currently here working on H1B visas. These legal immigrants cannot change jobs or get a promotion without losing their place in line for a green card. Z visa recipients are not held to these same standards.

Secondly, we are told that the act of crossing the border illegally is nothing more than a misdemeanor and the punishment, a $5000 fine, fits the crime. That logic assumes that once here the illegal immigrant breaks no other laws. The proponents have told us that they are here to do work that Americans won’t do. Let’s look at that statement. In order to do work “legally” they must have a valid social security number, which because they broke the law to get here, do not. In this case they either buy a valid SSN, which has been stolen from someone else, or they simply make one up. Both situations are crimes. If they decide to work “under the table” without reporting any income to the IRS, then we are looking at tax fraud. Add these to the already acknowledged misdemeanor of being here illegally and the punishment certainly does not fit the crime.

Following the logic that they are here to do work that Americans won’t do, if the jobs paid more than Americans would line up to work in the fields. The illegal immigrants accept less money than American citizens do to do the same work. They accept less because of their illegal status. Does anyone believe that they will continue to work for less money than the employee next to them once they attain legal status? There are also many cases where INS has gone in and conducted raids at manufacturing facilities and rounded up hundreds of illegal immigrants. The factory then has to fill those positions with legal workers. In every case those jobs, that Americans just won’t do, were filled immediately.

The proponents of this reform legislation have said that the current laws don’t provide stiff enough penalties to employers or illegal immigrants to deter anyone from breaking the law. That is why we need to act now to beef up the law. That is a frightening statement. So if a punishment is not harsh enough, we just don’t enforce the law? That does not make any sense, but yet that is essentially what we are being told. Here is a novel idea. Why don’t we try enforcing the current laws as written and see how effective they are?

This is precisely why the American public does not have any faith in the government, be it the President or Congress, to make this reform package work. The bureaucrats in Washington tried this same approach in the 60’s and the 80’s to combat illegal immigration. Even the feeble minded, like myself, can see that their reforms didn’t work in either case previously, but yet we should trust them to get it right this time? The country is at a unique point in our history, the voters of both parties are very unhappy with their elected representatives. The elections of next year could very well determine what path our country goes down. Will we continue with the status quo approach of sending the same tired candidates back to Washington? Or will there be a political uprising, where the voters of this great country send men and women to Washington who are more interested in doing what is best for our country than furthering their political careers?

George W caused Global Warming.

George W. -- the definition of warmonger -- is solely responsible for Global Warming. To prove this, all you must do is look at the Delaware River.

And when I say George W., I of course mean George Washington.

I am sure that everyone will recognize the very famous picture of Washington crossing the Delaware River on Christmas day in 1776. Then again, with today's public education and the lack of focus on things that are actually important, maybe a lot of people reading this have no idea what I am referring to. History doesn't help kids' self-esteem much, so I am guessing that it is no longer in today's curriculum.

To refresh your memory, then General Washington took 2,400 men across the near frozen Delaware River to attack a garrison of British soldiers in New Jersey. This was a turning point in the war because the American troops had just lost New York City and their morale was extremely low. Had Washington not crossed the Delaware to attack the British in the Battle of Trenton, we may all be speaking British right now. Again, with today's education system, most people won't even understand that last joke.

What isn't discussed very often is that the Delaware River doesn't actually freeze to the point that we see in the now famous picture. Did the artist exaggerate to make Washington and the troops look more courageous? Let us examine this little thing that I like to call "history."

While watching the History Channel this past weekend, I caught a great piece about what is commonly called the "mini ice age" or "little ice age." This was a time from about the 16th to 19th century in which the earth suffered through 3 little periods of extreme cooling with each little period separated by slight warming. The exact time period is a matter of debate of course, but this is why the picture of the Delaware crossing looks exaggerated. The river was almost frozen over, which doesn't happen today because the earth has been warming. Again, the time period is a matter of debate. In fact, the Atlantic ice pack began to expand in the 13th century while the global glacial expansion did not begin until the 16th century.

There isn't as much debate about when the mini ice age ended. Most believe it was in the 19th century, around 1850. This would be less than a century after the Delaware crossing. The earth started warming, and somehow did so without the help of SUVs and coal burning power plants.

So, what caused the sudden warming at the end of the mini ice age? To try and answer that, we must first find out what caused the cooling that started the mini ice age. Common theories claim that the heightened volcanic activity combined with lower sunspot activity caused the ice age. The volcanic activity caused solar radiation to be reflected back into space. The low sunspot activity may have meant lower solar radiation also. When both of these reversed (lessened volcanic activity, increased sunspots) in the 19th century, the temperature began to increase.

I said all of that to say this. Much of the debate over Global Warming is being controlled by absolute morons. Anyone who claims that there is a scientific consensus and that the debate is over and the science is settled needs to be examined by a doctor and possibly locked up for the good of everyone else. And why not lock them up? Why can’t I say that they should be put away? They like to have anyone who disagrees with them ridiculed and fired. So, claiming that they should be examined is really just reflecting their arguments back at them. I know it seems childish, and that is exactly the point. They are being childish.

R. Timothy Patterson is professor and director of the Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre, Department of Earth Sciences, Carleton University. He published an interesting piece just yesterday. Here are some highlights.

We are assured by everyone from David Suzuki to Al Gore to Prime Minister Stephen Harper that "the science is settled."
The fact that science is many years away from properly understanding global climate doesn't seem to bother our leaders at all. Inviting testimony only from those who don't question political orthodoxy on the issue, parliamentarians are charging ahead with the impossible and expensive goal of "stopping global climate change."
Climate stability has never been a feature of planet Earth. The only constant about climate is change; it changes continually and, at times, quite rapidly. Many times in the past, temperatures were far higher than today, and occasionally, temperatures were colder. As recently as 6,000 years ago, it was about 3C warmer than now. Ten thousand years ago, while the world was coming out of the thousand-year-long "Younger Dryas" cold episode, temperatures rose as much as 6C in a decade -- 100 times faster than the past century's 0.6C warming that has so upset environmentalists. From Read the sunspots, Financial Post, published June 20, 2007.

Professor Patterson then goes on to explain his theory regarding the effects of solar activity on the temperature of the earth. Of course, this scientist and professor will soon be ridiculed for his efforts. So I'm going to go ahead and get it all out of the way now. Let me clear my throat.

"R. Timothy Patterson is not a real scientist. Just because he is the director of the Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre, Department of Earth Sciences, Carleton University does not mean he knows anything about earth science. Patterson is on the payroll of George W. Bush and Exxon. One lone nutcase like Patterson is trying to argue with millions and billions of real scientists who actually care about the earth. Patterson is a holocaust denier."

I'm certain that Al Gore and people from The Huffington Post have many more childish insults that they can toss at Professor Patterson. And yes, someone in the media has actually said that Global Warming skeptics are like holocaust deniers. If you like, please feel free to leave anything I missed in the comments. Thank you.

The UN and various Global Warming advocates are pushing a recent study and claiming that it settles the argument once and for all. This study claims that the earth's temperature is rising at an alarming rate and it is all our fault. Please note that in all the history of the earth, science has never been wrong when politicians agree with it and decree it to be the truth. Please also note that the sun revolves around a perfectly flat earth. Science has always known everything that there is to know, which explains why we continue to find new cures for diseases and new plant and animal life.

It also explains more of what Professor Patterson said in his article.

In a 2003 poll conducted by German environmental researchers Dennis Bray and Hans von Storch, two-thirds of more than 530 climate scientists from 27 countries surveyed did not believe that "the current state of scientific knowledge is developed well enough to allow for a reasonable assessment of the effects of greenhouse gases." About half of those polled stated that the science of climate change was not sufficiently settled to pass the issue over to policymakers at all.

This shows that only four years ago, climate scientist acknowledged that there is more to be done before any consensus can be claimed. If you believe that in four short years they have suddenly made all the discoveries they need to make and that nothing more needs to be done, you are a dumbass. I hate to be harsh, but this is absolutely the nicest thing I can think to say about anyone who believes the science regarding the effects of greenhouse gases on the earth's temperature is settled. There is no consensus in the scientific community on the causes of historical changes in earth's temperature, but I am supposed to believe that there is a consensus on the future?

I'm going to be blunt here, Al Gore is either pushing an agenda that he does not believe in, or the man is record-setting stupid. Due to the fact that he is a politician, I cannot even begin to speculate on which of the two choices is correct. There are scientists all over the globe who will tell you that his movie is full of holes. Despite this, people will read what I am writing and accuse me of not thinking for myself.

I am going to repeat that last part to make sure it is clear. I will be accused of not thinking for myself by people who have not yet questioned anything that Al Gore says about Global Warming. Did everyone get that? I will be told that the science of Global Warming is settled by people who tell me that I am blindly following Big Oil propaganda. I am certain that some of you are reading this paragraph and laughing a little inside because you realize the truth behind what I am saying. I am also certain that others of you are reading this, and you are lockstep in line and screaming your blind accusations.

CO2 is being blamed by some for the slight increase in temperature that we have seen over the past century. History has shown that the temperature has risen in the past over 100 times faster in a decade than it has in the past century. Despite this, blaming CO2 is supposedly a consensus. The reality is that CO2 is not a common factor in the history of climate changes. The reality is that CO2 is blamed mostly be people who only look at the current warming trend and have decided to rule out other possibilities regardless of the fact that they are more obvious answer. Not only is this not a consensus, it is not good science. To say that the answer is CO2 simply because you do not have any other answer is horrible science.

But let's be honest. Why don't we just apply the same principles to the mini ice age period that we apply today? I blame George Washington. He won the war, and then he became the President of the United States. He was a warmongering U.S. President; therefore the Global Warming that began and continues today is all his fault. Why should we be logical about this?

We need to get to a point where we can have an actual debate on this issue. Not only are the alarmist wrong in their supposed consensus, they are dangerously wrong. I'll quote the professor's article again.

Solar scientists predict that, by 2020, the sun will be starting into its weakest Schwabe solar cycle of the past two centuries, likely leading to unusually cool conditions on Earth. Beginning to plan for adaptation to such a cool period, one which may continue well beyond one 11-year cycle, as did the Little Ice Age, should be a priority for governments. It is global cooling, not warming, that is the major climate threat to the world, especially Canada. As a country at the northern limit to agriculture in the world, it would take very little cooling to destroy much of our food crops, while a warming would only require that we adopt farming techniques practiced to the south of us.
Meantime, we need to continue research into this, the most complex field of science ever tackled, and immediately halt wasted expenditures on the King Canute-like task of "stopping climate change."

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi Can See the Future!!!!

Now I know why the democrats took back Congress. Their two brave leaders can see the future!!

This is great news.

I know you are confused, so I will explain.

June 13, 2007. Nancy and Harry
sent a letter to President Bush explaining to him that the surge in Iraq was a failure.
"As many had forseen, the escalation has failed to produce the intended results," the two leaders wrote.
"The increase in US forces has had little impact in curbing the violence or fostering political reconciliation.
"It has not enhanced Americas national security. The unsettling reality is that instances of violence against Iraqis remain high and attacks on US forces have increased.
"In fact, the last two months of the war were the deadliest to date for US troops."

Somehow, these two great leaders managed to predict the outcome of a surge that HAD NOT EVEN BEGUN.

I know, you are still confused. I will now waste a huge amount of time by directing your attention to some Lt. General Raymond Odierno, Multi-National Forces, Iraq. Again, this is a huge waste because as we all know, the generals in Iraq have no freaking clue about what is going on in that country.
Pat Dollard posted a video of an interview Lt. Gen. Odierno gave to CNN. Be warned, this idiot general tries to give the impression that US troops are actually winning in Iraq, so his word doesn't mean much. As we all know, the war is lost. Harry Reid predicted this loss long ago and he knows lots more about the Iraq war than those dumb people who are actually fighting in it.

This idiot tells us in the CNN interview that the surge really began June 15th. This means that Harry and Nancy were able to declare the new strategy to be a complete failure a full two days before it began. This is amazing. It is good to know that we have these two people running our country who can tell us that a strategy that has not yet been used is already failing.

I plan on contacting my own elected officials tomorrow to get some stock market predictions.

Cassy Fiano: Planned Parenthood reports huge profits, zero adoptions

Business at Planned Parenthood is going very well. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) just released their annual report for the 2005 - 2006 fiscal year. The nonprofit organization performed a record 264,943 abortions, attained a high profit of $55.8 million, and received record taxpayer funding of $305.3 million.$55.8 million profit?

Baby-killing is a pretty lucrative business, I guess.

Jessica Alba: "I'm American"

Well, duh!

But I guess that's not acceptable to say to the multi-culti p.c. crowd who demand that this non-Spanish speaking, third generation American woman embrace her Mexican-ness. She notes that no one talks about Cameron Diaz's Latino-ness because she's blond. Alba's right. It's the multi-culturists who divide people by race, color, language, culture and ethnicity.

Gee, I Wonder What Causes Islamophobia

Thanks to Redstate and Breitbart for this news.

Here is the reaction to the knighthood of Salman Rushdie.

Pakistan demanded on Monday that Britain withdraw a knighthood awarded to author Salman Rushdie, as a government minister said the honour gave a justification for suicide attacks by Muslims.

Angry protesters in several cities torched British flags and beat them with their shoes in protest at the accolade for the Indian-born writer of "The Satanic Verses" and chanted "Death to Britain, death to Rushdie."

"If somebody has to attack by strapping bombs to his body to protect the honour of the Prophet, then it is justified," Pakistani Religious Affairs Minister Ijaz-ul-Haq told the national assembly.

Here is who he is and what he did.

Rushdie, 59, was forced to go into hiding for a decade after Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989 issued a death sentence over his book "The Satanic Verses" claiming it insulted Islam.

And here is the response from Iran.

Iran has already accused British leaders of "Islamophobia" after Rushdie -- now Sir Salman -- was awarded the knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday to mark her 81st birthday.

Did everyone catch that? They claim justification for suicide attacks, they issue a death sentence over a book, and then they accuse others of "Islamophobia."

Well, shit, I wonder what could possibly have caused all of this "Islamophobia?" Why can't we just brush aside the justifying of a death sentence and suicide bombings over a book and realize that these people are all peaceful, fun-loving sweethearts who are just misunderstood?

"We demand that Britain should refrain from such acts which hurt the sentiments of Muslims and take back the title of Sir given to Rushdie," parliamentary affairs minister Sher Afgan said.

And I demand that you go fuck yourself. Hey tardo boy, has it ever occurred to you that suicide bombings hurt a lot more and that maybe you should spend more time condemning terrorism than books?

Now if everyone will excuse me, I am on my way to the bathroom with a few pictures of the prophet.

NEFA Series - "Target America" Illinois Shopping Mall

On the heels of the foiled plots targeting Fort Dix and JFK Airport, the Nine Eleven Finding Answers (NEFA) Foundation announces the release of the third in a series of reports examining the multitude of terrorist plots directed at the United States since 9/11.

This week's report again focuses on the homegrown threat, documenting Derrick Shareef's plans to launch a grenade attack on the CherryVale Shopping Center in Rockford, Illinois.

In preparation for his assault, Shareef carried out surveillance, attempted to procure weapons, and recorded a martyrdom tape, in which he ominously warned: "My name is Talib Abu Salam Ibn Shareef. I am 22 years of age. I am from America, and this tape is to let you guys know, who disbelieve in Allah, to let the enemies of Islam know, and to let the Muslims alike know that the time for jihad is now."

Health Care on Film

Michael Moore's new documentary SiCKO unfavorably contrasts the U.S. health care system with government-run systems. According to Moore, the U.S. system leaves millions of Americans behind and allows insurance companies to profit by denying care to cancer patients.

Cato scholar Michael D. Tanner counters, "America needs to have a serious debate about how to fix our health-care system. But Moore's demagoguery and refusal to address the numbers will do little to contribute to that debate."

On June 21 — the day after the D.C. premiere of SiCKO – the Cato Institute will help viewers decide when it hosts a screening of clips from SiCKO and short films by independent filmmakers who are more critical of government-run systems.

Baseball Bats for Big Labor Act

From Americans For Tax Reform

This week, the Senate is considering S. 1041, the Orwellian-named "Employee Free Choice Act." As a point of fact, this bill would strip workers of their right to a federally-supervised, private ballot election when deciding on the question of union representation.

S. 1041 would replace this privacy right with a risky "card check" scheme. Under this method, union thugs could intimidate workers into signing a kind of petition known as a "card check." They could do so by any means necessary. Once 50%-plus-one of the workers at a facility were coerced into signing this "card check," a union would be established right then and there.

Not surprisingly, most Americans think this is a bad idea. In a recent McLaughlin poll, 87 percent of voters agreed that "every worker should continue to have the right to a federally supervised secret ballot election when deciding whether or not to join a union."

Moreover, S.1041 contains a provision that mandates compulsory, binding arbitration on the employer and the employees as part the collective bargaining process if an agreement cannot be reached within the first 120 days of negotiations. This misguided language would have a third party, government official impose the terms of a labor contract that are binding upon both parties, even if one or both parties find those terms unacceptable. In fact, employees would not be provided with the opportunity to vote on whether or not they approve their new contract.

Unions are the biggest single supporters of larger government, and rigging the rules in their favor would be a crushing blow to taxpayers.

Amnesty Equals No Dollars.

What a GREAT day I had today. My mother is in town for a few weeks and decided to have her mail temporarily forwarded to our house. So today in the mail is two wonderful little items, her renewal fees for the GOP and a card from President Bush trying to get additional donations and a birthday card we were supposed to fill out and send back to him.

Yeah, I filled it out.

You will have to excuse me, Spanish isn't really my thing, but the card went something like this.

"El Presidenta. Gracias for the social security. Signed, Hector from venezuala."

I was really tired and didn't have the brain power to think up a bit more, or to actually check my spelling.

Oh yeah, two different forms that were asking for money. Well, I took some advice from a
Michelle Malkin archive.

Yeah, It was a great day today.

Note: The above scan is not mine. I am using it as the example of what I did. The above was sent to Malkin from one of her readers.

Appeal for Redress -- Joining the Army for the Purpose of Protest

A dirty little anti-war secret. The fake grassroots organization that is getting enlisted persons to sign their anti-war petition is gaining signatures from people who join the service for that purpose, to protest the war.

Mudville Gazette has the story of Marc Train, who was featured in a December article of "The Nation" in which he claims he knew nothing of politics before joining the Army. He says it was only afterwards that he realized that the war is all about oil and the evil Bush administration. But some investigation by Mudville finds that he did in fact have an anti-war voice before joining the army.

OBEY LOST - TAXPAYERS WON!

For Immediate Release June 15, 2007
Contact: Leslie K. Paige 202-467-5334
Alexa Moutevelis 202-467-5318

Washington, D.C. -
Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today claimed victory in a fight for earmark transparency in the House. After a wave of protest from across the political spectrum, Democrats finally backed down from plans to keep taxpayers in the dark about tens of billions of dollars in congressionally-earmarked spending items until the bills were in the House-Senate conference. Earmarks will now be included in appropriations bills and subject to debate and amendment.

"Democrats promised real earmark reform, but then took the first opportunity they could to find a loophole and get back to pork-barrel business as usual," said CAGW President Tom Schatz. "The American people are sick and tired of the bait and switch from Congress, especially when it comes to their tax dollars."

In May, House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wisc.) announced plans to keep earmarks secret until closed-door conference committee meetings between the House and Senate to reconcile spending bills, which typically take place in September. Rep. Obey planned to report the bills out of committee "earmark free," but intended to include funding increases in order to have the extra money to pay for earmarks that would be inserted later. The Chairman announced that he and his staff would vet these earmarks themselves to determine their suitability for funding in the final bill, making them "judge and jury" for billions of dollars in such projects.

While Rep. Obey promised the earmark lists would finally be made available for viewing in August, before the conference committees, the resulting conference reports themselves are not subject to amendment, leaving no opportunity to challenge or strike any individual pork project.

Chairman Obey's scheme flouted the spirit of new House rules, which call for earmarks to be provided in appropriations bills and which would allow them to be challenged on the floor of the House. Republicans, and particularly Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a stalwart opponent of the recent earmark bonanzas, took a stand and protested Obey's plan by bringing House proceedings to a grinding halt. Democrats also felt the heat from the media, their constituents, bloggers, and taxpayer watchdog groups like CAGW. The outrage, which showed no sign of abatement, along with the Republicans' commitment to throwing up endless procedural roadblocks, finally forced the House Democratic leadership to agree to list earmarks with the bills.

"Chairman Obey wanted to stay behind closed doors and play 'God' with earmarks, but the taxpayers won this battle for transparency and accountability," concluded Schatz.

Citizens Against Government Waste is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse in government.

carnival of political punditry - June 17, 2007

Welcome to the June 17, 2007 edition of carnival of political punditry.

This is an interesting carnival. We begin with some jabs at the President and the GOP in general with few articles about the Iraq war in the mix. We then move on to some opinions about the current economy. Staying on course with current events, we move on to the Immigration debate. One blogger gives his feelings on JFK. In a bit of contrast, one blogger tells us why we need laws, while another tells that laws do nothing but destroy. In a strong finish, we try to figure out how our planet survives with so many physical poisons, and with so many social poisons, then we end up with some Mitt Romney humor.

Tom Tancredo Pimp Slaps Shamnesty Supporters.

From the Congressman's website.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo’s (R-CO) amendment to cut funding from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Bill (H.R. 2638) for cities that employ a sanctuary policy passed the House with strong bipartisan support today; 234 to 189.

“The times, they are a changing,” said an exuberant Tancredo, who had introduced the same amendment several times in the past with far less support. “This should also serve as a warning sign to the White House and supporters of re-introducing an amnesty bill from the Senate. If that legislation makes it to the House, it is in serious trouble.”

The Amendment would prevent cities like Denver and San Francisco who employ a sanctuary policy for illegal aliens from receiving first responder funds, including law enforcement and terrorism prevention grants, among other programs.

Tancredo concluded, “The days that local officials could pander to the open borders special interests are over.”

Can Romney Gain Points by Announcing His Running Mate Now?

Oh the little things.

I have a written a couple of pieces about Senator Jim DeMint on my blog recently, I have also posted
his latest statement about the shamnesty bill that he is trying to kill. I have made no secret that he has recently gained a great deal of support from myself. I thought about trying to draft him into the presidential race and also suggested that he would make a great running mate for Fred Thompson.

But some additional research makes me wonder if another candidate isn't already considering DeMint for the position of Vice President.

I didn't know this until moments ago, but
Jim DeMint has endorsed Mitt Romney and in fact is the senior advisor to the Romney for President Exploratory Committee. I have attached the links for the Press Release and the letter of support from Senator DeMint. If DeMint were more popular back in January when he endorsed Romney, this would have probably been bigger news and I probably wouldn't be sitting here saying, "Wow, look at that." But due to the fact that DeMint has just recently gained any real popularity, I am just now seeing this. I am also wondering if a few people wont read this while they are thinking to themselves that they have known this for a long time and that it isn't new news. Well, it's new to me.

"We must elect a President in 2008 who is up to the task, and I need you to encourage Mitt to run. ... As a leader who has spent most of his life in the private sector, Governor Romney will call on America's strength and character to solve problems and secure our future."

I am not sure what to think of Romney or DeMint to be honest. They are both on the radar just very recently, so their politics is only known by those who have done the research. I have been considering supporting Romney in the primaries, even over the prospect of Fred Thompson. And now that I see support from Senator DeMint, who had done a great job preventing the shamnesty bill from going to a vote, Romney has gained points in my view.

If Romney were to give indication that Senator DeMint was his choice for a running mate, he would shoot up the ladder. I may be wrong, but I think that DeMint was mentioned as a possibility when Romney was name dropping a few weeks back. And if the Senator is able to defeat shamnesty, they would gain favor in the ranks of conservatives who are against this bill. Much of the political landscape is going to be shaped by what happens to this bill and what action is taken for border security. Conservatives are split over this issue by those who want to support the GOP at all costs and those who are more concerned about policy that party. The candidate who can mend this split has the best shot at becoming the next President of the United States.

DeMint Statement on Border Security

June 14th, 2007 - Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement:

"I appreciate the effort to fund border security, but there’s simply no reason why we should be forced to tie amnesty to it. If the administration was serious about fulfilling the border security promises, then this funding should have been supported all along, not offered at the last minute to attract votes to a bad bill."

"We have a serious problem with our immigration system, but this mess of a bill is not the solution. It puts amnesty before security, contains loopholes for criminals, and will increase the burden on taxpayers."

"All of the border security triggers in this bill can already be implemented under current law. It is unfortunate that the bill supporters continue to hold border security hostage in return for passage of amnesty. Instead, they need to prove to the American people that they will secure the border first."

On Tuesday, nine U.S. Senators wrote a letter to President Bush urging him to fulfill the border security provisions listed in the Senate immigration bill whether the legislation passes or not. Each border security trigger in the bill can be implemented under current law without any need for new legislation from Congress. For the text of the letter and facts on the border security provisions, click here.

What Would Reagan Do?

This week marks the 20th anniversary of President Ronald Reagan’s speech before the Berlin Wall. Reagan’s remarks were immediately condemned by the left wing political pundits, the state department bureaucrats, and the media. Their main point of contention was the phrase, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” Their fear was the same throughout Reagan’s entire presidency. The bureaucratic apprehension was that at any moment, Reagan would plunge the United States and the rest of the world into a nuclear holocaust.

For all of the wailing and shrieking from the far left, Reagan was elected in a landslide victory over President Jimmy Carter. Four years later, Reagan defeated Walter Mondale in a historic landslide victory. What made Reagan unique was his steadfast belief in freedom and the potential of the American people. His policies and leadership brought the country out of the malaise of the Carter years. Reagan’s conservative ideals turned around the double digit inflation and nightmarish unemployment lines.

This week also marked a renewed effort by President Bush and the Congress to push through the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill. The bill has created a deep rift between the administration and the conservative base of the Republican party. The base is demanding that the border be secured first and then we can discuss the other aspects of the immigration bill. The supporters of the bill have alienated all those who are opposed to the bill, causing many within the party to question the commitment of the party to conservatism.

I realize that Reagan signed the immigration bill in 1986 that granted amnesty to over 3 million illegal immigrants, but I believe that the Republican party needs a Reaganesque candidate for 2008. I firmly believe that the Republicans don’t stand a chance unless someone emerges to lead the party back to conservatism. Reagan believed that all of us were created to be free, and with that freedom we have the potential to be great. Listening to the current crop of declared candidates from both parties, reminds me of a bad high school play. A group of amateurs trying to act like something they are not.

Senator John McCain may try to sound like a conservative, but his recent staunch support for the immigration bill has sealed his fate as a RINO(Republican In Name Only). Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is a conservative on some of the issues, such as the war on terror and taxes, but on many of the other pressing issues he has struggled to find a position. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is conservative as well on many issues, but he has labored over the past few years to find his conservative voice. Shouldn’t a presidential candidate know where they stand before they declare themselves a candidate?

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is a conservative that knows where he stands and hasn’t waffled on the issues of today. Newt’s biggest obstacle, should he decide to run, is that he led the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton while he was having his own extramarital affair. I know that the impeachment was not about sex or adultery, but it is too big of a target for the media, blogosphere, or the Democratic competition.

Former Senator Fred Thompson is also a potential candidate who knows where he stands on the issues. Thompson has been a conservative for his entire political career, but questions arose when he supported the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform bill. Fred has honed his communication skills over the years as an actor in movies and the TV series “Law And Order”. Thompson could be the candidate to carry the Reagan mantle, but only time will tell. There is still plenty of time before the first votes are cast in the primaries.

Maybe We Should Draft This Guy

As all of my loyal readers are aware (both of you), I recently awarded Jim DeMint "Coolest Person In Congress At The Moment." This is a very prestigious award in certain ranks. It just happens that those ranks are very secretive, so chances are you have never heard of them.

I did a little investigation, which means I looked at Senator DeMint's website. I discovered that his push to stop shamnesty isn't the only thing that makes this man a patriot and a great American who should be placed upon a pedestal and have his praises sung to him. Ok, maybe I'm a little overboard.

Senator DeMint also supports a version of the Consumption Tax, or Fair Tax. He calls it the "8.5% Tax Reform Plan." The specifics are on his website. Here are the highlights:

Replace all individual federal income taxes with a flat 8.5% national retail sales tax on new goods and services.

Provide a universal rebate to all Americans so that the poor are not taxed on basic consumption. The rebate is applied through the reduction in payroll taxes.

Replace all corporate income taxes with a flat 8.5% business transfer tax.

He claims that this is revenue neutral. This is a matter of debate. The estimates for a needed consumption tax rate have been between 23% and 35% to ensure that the federal revenues continue to rise to pay for all of the very necessary earmarks for Congressional pet projects that mean nothing to the average taxpayer. However, the argument remains that if we had such bold tax reform, it would increase economical investment in the U.S. to such an extent that tax revenues could possibly increase substantially. Companies and individuals would no longer spend untold billions on tax preparations and the prices of goods and services would decrease. Fewer jobs would be sent overseas. This may or may not be tax neutral, the problem is that we just don't know until we try it. It is all economical theory. Of course, if you added this bold reform to spending reform, it increases your chances of tax neutrality.

Because this is so debatable an issue, we will instead stick to the 45,000 page long IRS tax code that no one understands and which currently allows an estimated 400 billion dollars in tax cheats each year. That is an interesting estimate because if the IRS were collecting it, there would be no federal deficit at the moment. I just thought I would mention that part.

Senator DeMint seems to have a strong position on two very important issues, borders and taxes. This is why I would like to see him have more of a leadership roll in the Republican Party in D.C. right now. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing this guy as a Presidential candidate. I like his stance on both of these very important issues, and he demonstrated an ability last week to play the political game when it was necessary to help stall the horrible shamnesty bill, I mean the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bill. No, I mean shamnesty. He was able to gain enough support from a handful of Republicans and Democrats to force a vote the stalled the bill. He will now be judged on his ability to finish killing this thing. If he can get it done, it would certainly help him gain popularity with the American public.

Of course there are already ten men running for the GOP nomination. The two most liberal are the front runners because they are popular. Senator DeMint is not popular like McCain and Giuliani, and he isn't an actor. If he jumped into the race, he would lose. And we would probably lose too because he would be focusing on his campaign and his help in defeating shamnesty would be missed.

I do have a compromise however. Maybe DeMint should be Fred Thompson's running mate.

Bipartisan Betrayal On Immigration

By THOMAS SOWELL Posted Tuesday, June 12, 2007 4:30 PM PT

With immigration, as with other issues, the most important decision is: Who is to make the decision?

It should be too obvious for words that decisions about who is to come into the U.S. and live among Americans should be made in the United States by Americans.

The 9-11 Impact on Commercial Real Estate

The NBER has a very well done study on the impact that the 9-11 attack has had on high-rise office buildings. They actually took a look at the changes that occured in Chicago instead of New York. They did this because if they had studied office buildings in New York, the numbers could easily be misleading because the attack significantly decreased available space in NYC. They were good about comparing offices in higher risk buildings to the smaller surrounding buildings.

Reading this makes me think that the attacks may still be having an effect on the U.S. economy also.

It seems that our the double standard enjoyed by the left here in the U.S. is also enjoyed by the left in Australia.

In Australia, a Leftist university student under the guidance of Leftist professors made a “comedy” film that ridiculed disabled people. Insensitive? It would be hard to imagine anything more insensitive. So what happened?

Nothing. So two conservative professors at the university concerned wrote an article expressing their disgust. They began their article: “A time comes when you have to say: “Enough!'’, when you can no longer put up with the misanthropic and amoral trash produced under the rubric of postmodernist, post-structuralist thought.

Message to the GOP -- We Are Not Democrats

This is one reason why my voter card has an "I" for "Independent"
by The New Pundit

To quote John Hawkins, "The GOP seems to be under the impression that conservatives have a duty to support their policies and decisions in office. This is exactly backwards and is the sort of thinking you'd expect from Feudal lords, not from American politicians. Conservatives put these Republicans into office to represent our views and the reason they're not getting a lot of support from the base is because they're doing a very poor job of showing us that they're listening and responding to what we want them to do."

It seems that the Republicans in Congress have mistaken us. They seem to believe that we are in fact Democrats. I can understand the kind of thinking that Hawkins describes above in the circles of people like Pelosi and Reid, but not in the circles of people like McCain and Graham. Let's take a good look at the thought process of the average Democrat. I'll give some examples.

Many Democrats are of the belief that Clinton was the greatest president ever. Ask them why and they spout off things about the economy and that our country was at peace with the rest of the world. They of course don't talk about the fact that Clinton was handed an economy that was already booming, and gave it to Bush Jr. on the brink of recession. They also fail to discuss the fact that Clinton sent out more force deployments than any president since WW2, most of which were abject failures. They also gloss over the fact that much of the strife today took hold while he was in office and was in fact made worse because of the failures of his deployments. That isn't peace.

Democrats believe that Carter was a great president. They forget that he installed the current government in Iran. They forget about the horrible economy that he made worse.

There are numerous examples of democrats holding up their own, while shouting in protest when the other side actually agrees with them. Clinton was the one who suggested putting Social Security funds into the stock market. Clinton was the one who signed the Iraq Liberation Act. When Bush tries to move both of these forward, he is called an oil loving Hitler by the same people who applauded Clinton.

There are many other examples I could give, (
Sandy Berger, William Jefferson) but I want to get to the point. Democrats have a history of doing exactly as they are told. They rarely hold their politicians accountable for their actions, such as a homosexual relationship with an underage page. We have all come to expect this.

But for some reason, it seems that Republicans believe that their supporters are just that, supporters. Hawkins nails them down pretty well. They are under the impression that we are here to give them a rubber stamp. There is no better example than in the current debate over immigration.

Conservatives have been screaming about the problem at the southern border for a long time. As this issue has
cost taxpayers more and more, we have become more and more vocal about our displeasure. Illegal aliens, despite the lie about them doing jobs Americans won't do, are a net loss to our economy. As the number of illegal aliens increases, so increases the unemployment rate and the crime rate within the black community as the illegal aliens take jobs from that community by accepting lower wages. And now we know that they are bringing terrorists with them. We now know that Hugo Chavez is aligned with Iran to bring down the U.S. We know that Al-Qaeda has set up training camps in South American countries to send people through the border. Our voices have become louder and louder as we have more and more reasons to show concern.

Given all of this, how does D.C. decide to handle the lack of law enforcement at our borders? They decide to make new laws. Legislation for legislation's sake. They decided that we need "Comprehensive Immigration Reform." Not only did Republicans jump on board this bandwagon, but it is in fact the Republican President who has led the charge.

I'm going to be frank here. Let me clear my throat. Every single person in Congress who is showing any support whatsoever for the half dead immigration bill that Ted Kennedy and his cohorts put together is in blatant violation of the United States Constitution and needs to be impeached. It is that simple.

Here is my message to the Republicans in Congress. We are not Democrats. We do not support you when you do not support us. When you lie and cheat, we hold you accountable. Apparently you didn't figure this out last year when you made Nancy Pelosi 2nd in line to the President. I know that the Democrats had to lie and cheat to take the majority, but you allowed it to happen when you acted like them. You acted like the Democratic Party and then expected conservative voters to act like Democratic voters. I don't know how it is that you didn't realize how badly you pissed us off. You pissed us off then and you are pissing us off now. STOP PISSING US OFF!!!!! Is this clear yet? If it is not clear yet, we are going to have a Democratic majority for a long while. We are also going to have a Democratic president in a couple of years. Most of the people I know can't afford the taxes and jacked up health care that this will surely bring.

If this does not stop, the Democrats will take over. The really bad news is that when they take over, they will take these same problems and make them worse. That is what they are good at. And the Republican Party politicians will have only themselves to blame.

We are not Democrats.

carnival of political punditry - June 10, 2007

Welcome to the June 10, 2007 edition of carnival of political punditry. I don't hide the fact that my blog is a conservative blog. I write conservative opinions and so does the other writer, Troy.

I decided to do a wide open blog carnival, allowing opinions from the left and the write. After a good look, I almost feel like I need to put in a "Opinions do not reflect" disclaimer.

The submissions are all here, I didn't turn away anything that was submitted. I will be doing this each week and I will continue to post so long as the submissions do not push too far. There is one that is off topic, and this is the only time it will be allowed.

Some of this is funny, some of it is cause for concern, and some of it is very informative. I don't agree with it all, but here it is.

CAIR press release

You have got to be kidding me. Muslims are in charge of security training?

The Flying Imams: CAIR press release

And the Winner Is...

By The New Pundit
According to John Hawkins of rightwingnews.com, the phone calls and petitions against the shamnesty bill may be having an influence.

"I asked my source if his boss has been hearing from his constituents on this bill and what the for and against ratio was. He said that they have received thousands and thousands of calls and the ratio was something like 95%-98% against the bill."

According to the same article, it looks like part of the reason this bill wont make it is Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina. I am thinking of moving there just to vote for him next time he is due.

Apparently, DeMint led the charge to add amendments to the bill that would require border security be in place before shamnesty is allowed and would require illegal aliens to have private health insurance in place before they can receive a Z visa. These two amendments posed a problem for Reid and others, and for a very obvious reason. They make too much sense. These amendments would be completely unfair to the people who have broken the law by sneaking across the border and using fake identification to take low-skilled jobs away from our current welfare recipients. They would be really fair to the hard working people who are legal citizens of this country, but as we all know, these people and their opinions are being left out of the entire process by the shamnesty supporters.

Reid and company did not want these amendments to be discussed or voted upon because they would put a huge strain on the charge to destroy our country. They would basically make the heart of the bill completely worthless because the point of this bill is to allow shamnesty to a bunch of criminals without requiring them to do much of anything in return. All of this led to a whole mess of D.C. insanity and basically stalled the bill altogether and may actually kill it, God-willing.

In the meantime, Jim DeMint is the winner of a brand new award. He is the recipient of the "Coolest Person In Congress At The Moment" award.

Republican Backstabbing And Political Suicide

by Troy Stouffer

I am an opinionated conservative. Because I have strong opinions and I am not afraid to voice my opinion, I have developed a thick skin for name calling and personal attacks. I am not unique in that respect. Many of my friends on the opposite end of the political spectrum have become accustomed to the vitriolic attacks on their beliefs. Most of us that enjoy the political process realize that this is all part of the game, but normally the attacks come from the other party.

This latest feeble attempt at immigration reform has brought out some of the worst attacks from the leaders of the Republican party. In the past couple of weeks, anyone who is opposed to the bill has been called xenophobic, bigoted, racist, unpatriotic, and had our intelligence questioned. Linda Chavez wrote an article recently where she equated the opposition to the bill to racism and hatred for anyone from “south of the border”. When pressed on the issue, Chavez admitted that a minority of the opposition, roughly 10%, is made up of the xenophobes.

The editorial board of the Wall Street Journal recently released some audio of one of their editorial meetings. Their condescension for the conservatives that were opposed to the bill was loud and obnoxious. I am the first to admit that I am not a scholar or an intellectual. I do not have a Master’s degree or even a Bachelor’s degree. I think the only time I am the smartest person in the room, is when I am alone. Even though I am intellectually challenged, I can see that this is bad legislation. One aspect stands out though, the “Intellectuals” have been working on reforming immigration for over 40 years and not resolved the problem. Maybe it is time we listen to those of us who are the uninformed and less intelligent than the political elite.

Not all of the politicians in Washington D.C. have succumbed to the political pressure from their parties to back this bill. From the start of this debate over 2 weeks ago, the supporters of the bill warned that any changes to the bill would cause the legislation to be ineffective. Many proposals have been blocked by the once staunch supporters of the reform. One amendment that was defeated was to block the legal status of those illegal immigrants who have been ordered to be deported by a judge, but then failed to appear in court.

The Democrats are not without blame on this reform bill. Senator Edward Kennedy was a driving force in the writing of this bill. Kennedy has been a key player on every major immigration reform package since his political career began over 40 years ago. I have to ask the question, if Teddy has not been able to fix this problem in 40 years of trying the same tactics, why does he believe this will be any different? Can anyone tell me a simple definition of insanity? For my “intellectual” readers, doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid recently said that if this bill fails it will be seen as a failure for President Bush. I agree that it will be seen as a failure for Bush, but it should also be seen as a failure for Reid, McCain, Kennedy, and any other politician that backed this bill. They should also be held accountable if the bill passes as it is written now. Reid and the Democrats could not even muster the necessary 60 votes to end debate on Thursday and bring the measure to a full vote. They only managed to get 33 votes to end the debate. Hardly close to the slim majority that the Democrats hold in the Senate.

I am usually not prone to political predictions, but in this case I will go out on a limb and make a few predictions. If this bill passes as it is written now, the Republicans will lose more seats in both houses of Congress and have zero chance of a Republican candidate winning the White House in 2008. The conservatives will not suddenly vote for the Democrats. They will back challengers to the incumbents in the primaries and will stay home on election day rather than vote for any candidate that had a hand in passing this legislation into law. One other point that has conservatives up in arms is the wall to wall assault by the administration in support of this bill. Where has this energy been on other issues for which the conservative base was screaming?

They Never Rest; More Crazy Propaganda from the Huffington Post

by The New Pundit

I should go to that site to get all of my material. It has been less than a week since I discussed the propaganda that was written about the JFK plot. Well, not only is there more of it straight from the Huff herself, but there are no less than two articles in support of Saddam Hussein. Yes, I said Saddam Hussein. It seems that they are not aware of the fact that the man is dead. Two articles at the Post are making a bad attempt at smearing Mitt Romney, while showing support for the former terrorist regime of Hussein. They are in addition to an article from Arianna explaining to us that the JFK plotters were not an actual threat because they did not have the financing or the weapons. Arianna, they didn't get the financing or the weapons because they were arrested before they could get these things accomplished. Just so you know, it is a bit more difficult to get this accomplished because of the fact that the NSA intercepts telephone communications from known terrorist organizations overseas. And their plan to blow up the pipeline could have been greatly improved upon once they made contact with monetary resources. While searching for the resources, they could have easily run across people who would have had more knowledge on the science needed to take out the entire pipeline. But we don’t expect someone like yourself to actually thank the authorities for preventing this disaster.

But I made enough mention of the JFK plot in another post. Today I want to talk about the Saddam supporters. Apparently Mitt made some crazy remark about Saddam kicking out UN weapons inspectors, and that it was this action that led to the war. Now I know what you are thinking, you are thinking that Saddam did in fact kick weapons inspectors out of Iraq multiple times from 1997 to 2002. Well, according to Larry Beinhart and Paul Begaga, you are absolutely wrong. You are living in a mad, mad world and stepping in shit.

Now I'm sure that if they were called out, they would try to clarify by stating that they were mostly referring to the fact that Saddam did in fact let inspectors back into the country in 2002. But they would need a lot of clarification because they both intentionally try to get around exactly what happened. They fail to mention how many times in 2002 Iraq rejected UN resolutions regarding inspections. They fail to mention how the inspectors were treated when they were allowed into the country. They fail to mention that Saddam and his thugs did everything possible to keep the inspectors at bay. They pay no attention to the timeline leading up to the liberation of Iraq from a terrorist regime led by Saddam and his two child raping brats. Well, ok, only one of his brats was constantly raping children.

In March 2002, Iraqi officials met with UN officials for the first time since 1998. This is done only after President Bush talks about Iraq in his 2002 SOTU address. UN officials fail to win the return of inspectors at this meeting or the two meeting that occur in May and July. It is not until September of 2002 that Saddam sends a letter to the UN allowing inspections, and even then he does not agree to the rules until October.

In January 2003 Hans Blix filed an update with the UN. In it he describes a lack of cooperation from the Iraqi government that includes actual harassment of the inspectors by Iraqi government officials. He mentions that he is not being given access to interview 3,100 different scientists to fill in gaps from missing records. He mentions the fact that numerous weapons and chemical agents remain unaccounted for. This list includes 1,000 tons of chemical agents from the Iraq-Iran war, 6,500 chemical rockets, 8,500 liters of anthrax, and 650kg of bacterial growth. He finds that Iraq possesses thiodiglycol, a precursor of mustard gas. Iraq had been developing missiles that went beyond the range allowed by sanctions. And to finish things off, they found that 380 rocket engines were smuggled into Iraq the previous month with chemicals used for missile propellants and control systems. This means that as late as December 2002, Iraq was creating and smuggling the very weapons they were not allowed to possess. For those keeping score, this is in fact the part of the justification for the war.

There is something here that is very important, and I don’t want anyone to miss it. Bush stepped up pressure on Iraq in January of 2002. This was after many years of a massive run-around effort by Iraq. Iraq finally decides to 'comply' with the UN in September 2002, and even then still has to be forced to give the small amount of cooperation that it gave. Iraq only makes this announcement after meeting with UN officials in March, May and July. Iraq is aware by this time that Bush is not going to tolerate further noncompliance after 9-11. Iraq knows that Bush is going to attack. Yet with this knowledge, they still drag their feet. What happened in those months?

According to former Iraqi General Georges Sada, Saddam had refitted commercial jets transport WMDs from Iraq to Syria in June 2002. These jets were pretending to fly aid to Syrian flood victims. Let me make sure this is loud and clear. Iraq sent aid to Syria. Iraq had been in a humanitarian crisis since the invasion of Kuwait. UN sanctions prevented other countries from providing food and medicine to the poor. I'm sure you all remember the big stink that was made for so many years about how the evil U.S. was killing Iraqi children by not allowing this food and medicine. But Iraq somehow has the ability to send aid to Syria? This flood killed about 20 people and took out a small amount of farmland. Saddam, being the humanitarian we all know, sent aid to this country despite the fact that he could not take care of his own people. Yeah, I buy that. The general talks about this in his book Saddam's Secrets.

The reason Saddam had kicked out inspectors so many times over the years was because he was in fact trying to re-arm his country. Inspectors had a 4 year long absence from 1998 to 2002 which allowed Saddam to build that list that I mentioned earlier. He also used this time to shoot at jets that were inspecting the no fly zones. He used oil money to fund Palestinian suicide bombers and line the pockets of UN officials. After realizing that George Bush was no Bill Clinton, he then stalled just long enough to hide his weapons in Syria in an attempt to make it appear that he was complying. He assumed that this would buy him enough influence to avert an invasion. Hindsight tells us that he assumed wrong.

Hindsight has also told us about Saddam's plans. It has told us that he was using the oil-for-food scandal to buy influence with the UN. After all of the information we now have regarding this scandal, can we safely say that he was not using his cash to influence the inspectors who were there in early 2003? Hindsight tells us that he was building alliances with Palestinian thugs and the terrorist regime of Syria and using funds from smuggled oil to do so. It tells us that he gave safe haven to terrorists like Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian national who had ties to Al-Qaeda long before the invasion. While I’m at it, I will also mention that hindsight tells us that the AP reported no less than two separate attacks on our troops that included IEDs created from looted chemical weapons in 2003. Hindsight tells us quite a bit about Saddam's regime, maybe the writers for the Huff should subscribe to the History Channel.

So before you accuse Mitt Romney of stepping in shit or living in a mad, make-believe world, you should try this little thing known as research. You should take a look at the timeline. You should take a look at Saddam’s intentions. Failure to do so makes it appear that you support people like Saddam, former terrorist thug.

The Culture of Corruption Strikes Again

Washington, Jun 5

After shutting down the House Ethics Committee investigation of Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) all year, today House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) finally appointed 10 members to serve as part of the Democrats’ ethics “pool” – more than five months after she promised to lead the most “open and ethical” Congress in history.

Following are 10 facts everyone should know about how House Democratic leaders have dragged their feet on the Jefferson matter and shut down the Ethics Committee investigation that was underway under the Republican-led, 109th Congress:

1) During the Republican-led Congress last year, the Ethics Committee announced the formation of an investigative subcommittee to examine the Jefferson matter.

2) At the end of the 109th Congress, the Jefferson inquiry expired, and action was delayed for more than five months by the new Democratic majority in the 110th Congress.

3) House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) was READY in January to appoint his 10 members to the ethics pool so the Jefferson investigation could continue.

4) As a courtesy, Leader Boehner waited on Speaker Pelosi to name her members so that both pools of members could be announced at the same time.

5) In February, the House Democratic Caucus unanimously approved Jefferson’s selection to the Homeland Security Committee, which would have given him access to highly sensitive top secret information.

6) The months of January, February, March, and April passed with no appointments from Pelosi – only stalling the ethics process and the Jefferson investigation.

7) On May 1, after waiting some four months for Speaker Pelosi to name her ethics pool members, Leader Boehner officially made his 10 appointments and they were printed in the Congressional Record.

8) Those 10 GOP appointments include Reps. Rob Bishop (R-UT), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ander Crenshaw (R-FL), Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Phil English (R-PA), Tom Latham (R-IA), Frank Lucas (R-OK), Sue Myrick (R-NC), Mike Simpson (R-ID), and Greg Walden (R-OR).

9) Because Speaker Pelosi refused to name her members for more than five months -- per clause 5(a)(4)(A) of House Rule X, and per Rule 19 of the House Ethics Committee -- the Ethics Committee failed to re-establish an investigative subcommittee to review this matter further.

10) Leader Boehner’s privileged resolution requires the Ethics Committee to do its work and requires a resolution in a timely manner.

Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have spent the past five months breaking nearly every pledge they’ve made to the American people – from ethics reform, to earmark reform, to fiscal responsibility, to fairness in operation of the House to any number of other hollow promises.

The American people have a right to ask. When will the Democrats live up to their promises?

And what does Nancy Pelosi have to say about all of this?

September 28, 2005“The criminal indictment of Majority Leader Tom DeLay is the latest example that Republicans in Congress are plagued by a culture of corruption at the expense of the American people.”

June 05, 2007
“The charges in the indictment against Congressman Jefferson are extremely serious. While Mr. Jefferson, just as any other citizen, must be considered innocent until proven guilty, if these charges are proven true, they constitute an egregious and unacceptable abuse of public trust and power.

No Love for Proving that Huffington Post Writers Support Terrorism

After showing that a couple of writers for the Huffington Post Support Terrorism, I got no real love from the bloggers. I got exactly one comment from someone who is from the UK. I got only a few people to digg it and no response from newsvine. Now there is a rumor that if you digg at the wrong time of the day you risk being buried very quickly. But there is the chance that people just didn't like it.

I can't even get love from the conservative bloggers today. Should I stop posting at 3AM?

I really was hoping to get a good deal of raving left wing lunacy in response. Too Bad.

Huffington Post Continues its Support for Terrorists

by The New Pundit

The Huffington post jumped all over the JFK plot. They jumped all over it by explaining to us that it was all bull.

Why Wasn't the Headline "Bombers Not Smart Enough to Bomb JFK"?

Why didn't the headlines read "Bombers Not Smart Enough to Bomb JFK" or "Plot to Blow-up JFK Unfeasible"? No, as is often the case in our post-9/11 paranoid universe, media hype and authoritarian fear-mongering conspire to freak us out.

In this post, Anthony Kaufman spouts the propaganda that helped cause 9-11. He showed his support for the destruction of the United States by telling us that the people planning this plot would have never been able to actually carry it out. He also yapped on about how the attacks coincidentally come during low poll numbers for the Bush administration. He pretends that Bush needs high poll numbers for some reason.

In How to Foil a Terrorist Plot in Seven Simple Steps, al-qaeda propagandist Nora Ephron tells us that the FBI fakes these plots by paying convicted felons to set people up.

Let me be very blunt here. These two people are supporters of the propaganda being used against this country by the likes of al-qaeda and other terrorist organizations. There is no sugar coating. They are trying to destroy this country.

The FBI, probably using tactics that the left has deemed unconstitutional, discovered and thwarted a plot that could have killed thousands. To pass off the people who planned this as not being smart enough is propaganda. We know they weren’t smart enough, which is why they were caught. We catch people by being smarter than they are. Claiming that this has something to do with the poll numbers of a man who will never seek public office again is terrorist propaganda. I don’t call it propaganda lightly. I do so after carefully looking for any other reason for the accusation, and cannot find one. Bush doesn’t care about his popularity right now, if you don’t believe me, ask those who voted for him what they think about immigration reform. Since there is no real logical reason for claiming that this has anything to do with popularity, we are left with two options. Either Anthony Kaufman is so stupid that he can barely breathe, or he is supporting terrorist propaganda. Since he was apparently able to think this story up and type it, he can’t be that stupid. This leaves us with the second option.

The same goes for Nora’s article. She attempts to make the case that the FBI finds convicted criminals, and pays them a big pile of cash to go out and talk others into a terrorist plot so that they can then arrest the poor souls and look like heroes. Again, this is blatant stupidity, or terrorist propaganda. She can type, so she can’t be stupid enough to believe her own words. It simply isn’t possible. No one who believes this kind of nonsense could possibly remember to breathe. Their brains wouldn’t be able to both breathe and type at the same time.

Imagine trying to run Windows XP and the latest version of AOL with a 10 year old computer. You would have a slow processor with 64k of RAM. Windows XP probably wouldn’t even start up, but if it did, AOL would cause the computer to freeze up because both programs running at the same time would be too much for the slow processor and low RAM. This is what would happen if people stupid enough to write this stuff actually believed what they were saying. The act of breathing while typing big words would cause one of those “not responding” messages you get when your computer decides to shut down.

I don’t know what it is that makes people decide to support terrorist propaganda that is used against their own country. It makes no sense at all. Interestingly, both of these propagandists live in New York, which so far has been the biggest bulls-eye for radical Islamic thugs. I’m curious; do they have a death wish? Maybe they have the inside scoop as to when these attacks will actually occur so that they can be sure to not be around? I mean, if they wanted to kill themselves, they could easily go the route of the bomb-strapped-to-the-chest jihads. Or maybe they know that their propaganda is even more important to the cause than dying.

Then again, maybe my assumptions about their brains shutting down are inaccurate. Maybe they are really just that stupid.

If This Doesn't Scare You..

I don't know what will.

FBI warns on Al-Qaeda's English messages

As a result, "al-Qaida has tried to put the message out to get others to step forward ... and do things in its name," Miller said. "I think what al-Qaida is counting on now ... is trying to develop and execute the major (attack) plan while at the same time putting out the propaganda fodder and hoping that others will take that ball and run with it. And they're counting on both happening at once."

Pay attention Ron Paul and Alex Jones supporters. This is real, and you are helping to spread this propaganda when you accuse the U.S. government of staging these attacks and attack plans.

Most Open Congress In History Is History

Let Freedom Ring has a great piece about the new Congress

Who Will Be Fred Thompson’s VP?

Now that Thompson has wrapped up the GOP nomination, the question on everyone's mind is who he will pick to be his running mate. I know we are still months away from the primaries. I am also aware that Fred hasn't actually announced his bid. But let's be honest, he is going to run and he is going to win. He is the most popular Republican in the race, despite the fact he isn't officially in the race.

The Presidential race is more about popularity than politics. Why do you think the two current front-runners are also the most liberal? Rudy and McCain are popular because of their past. The other candidates don't have the same history. Romney is doing well because he knows marketing, or someone on his team knows marketing. But the rest of the candidates, despite their conservative values, have very low poll numbers. Just don't tell the Ron Paul "truthers" that I said that. Internet polls that allow you to vote 100 times don't count, ok.

Fred is popular, mostly because of his time on the television, which interestingly enough started when he played himself. This led to some great movie rolls, and of course his current roll as a conservative prosecutor. All of this has increased his popularity amongst conservatives and has made him a favorite with conservative pundits and blogs. Some trivia for you, part of his inspiration to run was Dick Wolf, the guy who put together the many Law and Order shows.

So, again, now that he has this thing wrapped up, who will he pick as his running mate? We have seen in the past where the candidate picks a former foe from the primaries. There is some speculation that Fred will pick one of the current candidates. Steve Elliott of grassfire.org is expecting a younger governor, thinking that two senators won't play well in the fight against Barack O'Clinton. This is a very good point, especially given the recent record for senators against governors in the presidential race.

I won't speculate myself, but I will tell you what to look for. Look for polls, transformed into pairing people up with running mates. An example: Would you vote for Hillary/Obama or Thompson/Romney or Thompson/Tancredo?

Fred is running because fictional polls that included himself and Newt put the both of them well above other candidates. Fred played this so that he would know whether or not to actually run. He wanted to be certain that the people were tired of the front-running RINOs. And we are tired of them. Fred will find out who makes the best ticket, and he will start this process very soon.

I'm not sure that he can win it all right now. Republicans are very angry, mostly about amnesty, I mean "Comprehensive Immigration Reform"; I mean amnesty. I don't know if this can be saved, but with his popularity, maybe he is the guy who can do it. The pick for VP will play a very important factor here. The democrats will do the same, we could even see another Clinton/Gore ticket believe it or not. My guess is that it will be Clinton/Obama.

Don't screw it up Fred, the country can't afford it right now.

But It's Just a Bumper Sticker

"It is now clear that George Bush's misnamed 'War on Terror' has backfired — and is now part of the problem. The War on Terror is a slogan designed only for politics, not a strategy to make America safe. It's a bumper sticker, not a plan." John Edwards.

Thanks for clearing that up for us Jonny boy

This would make a great bumper sticker too:
FBI Uncovers JFK Airport Terror Plot

Counterterrorism blog has good info on the plot that we all know about now. They belong to a group called Jamaat-al-Muslimeen (JAM)

But never fear, these guys don't belong to al-qaeda so they couldn't have been actual terrorists. I know this because the left told me that only al-qaeda are terrorists and that's why we shouldn't go after other muslim extremists like Saddam. Oh yeah, Murtha told me that this was all because of our war in Iraq.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, HOST: I want to get back to my first question, but let me pick up on something you said just there. You believe that these homegrown terrorist plots are being inspired by the U.S. work in Iraq right now?
JOHN MURTHA, CONGRESSMAN: Absolutely. George, they were inspired by them all over the world. Our presence in Iraq, our occupation in Iraq, gives these people the inspiration. Now, we didn’t have this problem before, they came from Afghanistan. But, now we even have it in the United States. So, I’m absolutely convinced that this is the kind of thing that inspires these people.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But we did have 9/11 before we went into Iraq.
MURTHA: Yeah, we had 9/11, but that came from Afghanistan. There was no, there was no al Qaeda in Iraq. We don’t even know how many al Qaeda are in Iraq right now. For instance, we think a couple of thousand. They’ll take care of al Qaeda. They’ll get rid of al Qaeda. Our presence is inspiring them to recruit people all over the world. This is the problem we have.

So there was no inspiration for terrorist before the war in Iraq, War On Terror is just a bumper sticker, there was no war before it was invented by Bush. Those would make great bumper stickers John and John. Oh, here is another good sticker, why are politicians names John such jackasses?

Democrats Hide Pet Projects From Voters

Jun 3 05:08 AM US/Eastern
By ANDREW TAYLOR
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - After promising unprecedented openness regarding Congress' pork barrel practices, House Democrats are moving in the opposite direction as they draw up spending bills for the upcoming budget year.

Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in January to clearly identify "earmarks"—lawmakers' requests for specific projects and contracts for their states.

State Legislators for Legal Immigration

State Legislators for Legal Immigration Founder Urges President Bush to Choose U.S. Constitution Over Congressional Illegal Alien Amnesty Sellout

05/31/07

New nationwide coalition of state lawmakers launches unprecedented and historic effort to secure borders and cut off all economic attractions for illegal aliens

Rounding out a jam-packed, inaugural schedule of nation-wide grassroots activity that included major media events in Pennsylvania, Arizona and New Hampshire, State Legislators for Legal Immigration Founder, Pennsylvania State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler County) issued the following letter last week calling on President George W. Bush to honor his oath of office by fulfilling his Constitutional responsibilities to secure America’s borders against illegal alien invaders.

“Dear President Bush,

We are writing this letter to express our concern that the security of our nation is being held hostage by elected leaders in Washington, D.C., who are advocating on behalf of those profiting from the illegal aliens. Advancing legislation that gives any degree of preference for becoming citizens of our nation to individuals who have violated our borders and disrespected our rule of law is an affront to each and every patriotic U.S. citizen.

Last year, House Resolution 799 was passed by the General Assembly of Pennsylvania and a copy was transmitted to you and the Pennsylvania congressional delegation. HR 799 memorialized the President of the United States and the United States Congress to secure all borders of this nation to protect American citizens from the dangers of unlawful invasion and illegal immigration.

President Bush, as you well know, the federal government has a Constitutional obligation to secure our borders from the entry of illegal aliens.

Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution states that our government “shall guarantee” to every state in this Union a Republican form of government and shall protect each of them against INVASION.”

It is the responsibility of the federal government to secure our borders and we demand that you use the power of your office to do so, with our full support.

Some may think it audacious of one to demand anything of the President of the United States, but what we demand is only what you have already sworn to do during your oath of office, just as we have sworn to do in our oaths of office.

The illegal alien invasion must be terminated to protect Americans from increasingly documented incidences of homicide, identity theft, property theft, serious infectious diseases, drug running, gang violence, human trafficking, terrorism and the growing cost to taxpayers.

The resolution to this problem is with in our grasp. We are members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration, which is a nation-wide coalition founded to provide a network of state legislators who are committed to working together in demanding full cooperation among our federal, state and local governments in eliminating all economic attractions and incentives for illegal aliens.

These economic attractions and incentives include, but are not limited to: public benefits, welfare, education and employment opportunities for illegal aliens. We are standing together for securing our borders against unlawful invasion. Once the economic attractions of illegal jobs and taxpayer-funded public benefits are severed at the source, these illegal alien invaders will have no choice but to go home on their own.

State Legislators for Legal Immigration also believe that American citizens, both born and naturalized, along with legal resident aliens, must be shown the respect that they deserve by requiring each and every person who desires to reside in our nation to do so through the legal immigration process.

President Bush, we oppose any legislation that grants favored immigration status to those individuals who have violated our borders, and we demand that you and Congress uphold and defend our U.S. Constitution by securing our borders immediately.”

Including Pennsylvania, lawmakers from 25 state legislatures have signed on as pioneer members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration. View the latest State Capitol press releases and letters of support, state and national media coverage, and statewide illegal immigration reform updates by logging on to the coalition’s new and frequently-updated web site at StateLegislatorsforLegalImmigration.com.
