When captured they were treated like any other POW. That being said I see this as two subjects being roled into one. First his status as a eneamy combatant has been dealt with as the military held him as a POW and now the govt. has dealt with his criminal activity. If this guy had been able to follow through with his plans, the same people that rant now would have been pointing fingers at Washington wanting to know why they didn't stop him.
