The AFP, More Retarded than You Can Even Imagine
Thank you blackfive.
Ok kids, whats wrong with this picture?
I guess it is hard to tell if you don’t see the caption first.
“An elderly Iraqi woman shows two bullets which she says hit her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City. At least 175 people were slaughtered on Tuesday and more than 200 wounded when four suicide truck bombs targeted people from an ancient religious sect in northern Iraq, officials said.(AFP/Wissam al-Okaili) “
Before I go on, I want to give you a couple of quotes from the AFP website.
“AFP a guarantee of excellence.”
“The Agency shall be independent of all political, economic, philosophical or religious influence.” - (Article 2 of the Agence France-Presse statute, 1957)
I guess excellence doesn’t include figuring out very basic facts about guns. The woman in the picture above is not touching bullets. She is touching shells. Those shells hold the bullets and also hold the gunpowder that explodes to send the bullet to its target. Is anyone still confused? The only way these two object could have hit her house is if someone took them out of his magazine and tossed them. They HAVE NOT BEEN FIRED. Blackfive also points out that this woman has been photographed before by the exact same photographer. Guess what she was holding in the past photo shoot.
AFP needs to change their guarantee. I’m wondering if Article 3 of the Agence France-Presse statute is a disclaimer to Article 2?
Maybe we should contact AFP and give them a lesson in the difference between a bullet and a shell?
Check out blackfive for the full story here.
