carnival of political punditry - July 29, 2007

Posted by thenewpundit

Welcome to the July 29, 2007 edition of carnival of political punditry. This is another good one. Everything from Ron Paul and his nutty little fan club to some realities about the War in Iraq that Harry Reid doesn’t want you to know.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I’m considering starting up a discussion forum. This will allow you to not only promote your thoughts and ideas, but also give you another way to discuss them with others. If you are interested and know others who may be interested, please let me know.

Troy Stouffer presents Who Is This Ron Paul? posted at I’m A Pundit Too.

Troy Stouffer takes a good look at Ron Raul.

Doug Ragan presents Scott Thomas Goes to Washington posted at I’m A Pundit Too.

Scott Thomas, the controversial writer for The New Republic, sent me an e-mail the other day.

Wenchypoo presents The Great Risk Shift–A Book to Avoid Out of Respect to Fellow Taxpayers posted at Wisdom From Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket.

Wenchypoo is very wise, and gives more wisdom here.

Sammy Benoit presents NU?—What the Liberals don’t want you to Know posted at YID With LID.

Sammy has discoverd one of the dirty little secrets in Washington, perhaps the dirtiest one there.

Scholars & Rogues presents Presidential candidates raise big cash fast — but from whom? And why? posted at Scholars and Rogues.

This is one of the best, and the most worrisome articles I have read in a long while. Mr. Denny breaks down the political contributions of the industries and explains their actions.

Tom presents no one to vote for posted at geekandfather.com.

Do our politicians have any real leadership experience? If politicians were making decisions based upon what is really right for the country, would they want to continue being politicians?

Kevin Smant presents Who’s the GOP front-runner? posted at Fundamentals and Falsehoods.

Kevin Smant presents Guess we need to decide on genocide posted at Fundamentals and Falsehoods.

The Audacity of Hope I tell you. Preventing genocide should not be on our list of things to do says Obama.

Ashok presents Rethink.: Does Power Corrupt? posted at Rethink., saying, “Does the maxim “power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely” really hold true? If it does, is there any such thing as politics in the first place?”

Steve Faber presents - Can a President Buy Popularity? posted at DebtBlog.

Faber takes a good look at the approval ratings and spending habits of some Presidential Administrations. This is a great piece from someone who understands finances.

Jon Swift presents Hillary Clinton’s Cleavage Emboldens Our Enemies posted at Jon Swift, saying, “The problem with cleavage, as Givhan and Althouse demonstrate, is that when you are staring at a woman’s breats it’s nearly impossible to pay attention to what she is saying.”

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Political Madness Bush Impeachment Poll posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

Jimmy Atkinson presents Free Speech Hosting: 11 Web Hosts That Won?t Dump You at the First Sign of Controversy posted at Dedicated Hosting Guide.

Jeremy Hitchcock presents WTTF: Welcome to the Future » Archive » Weapons of Mass Harvesting posted at WTTF: Welcome to the Future, saying, “An alternative reality where America’s main threat comes from within… the ground.”

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of

  1. I’ll take you up on that forum, starting with this question: Why didn’t CNN take questions for the Democratic (and now Republican) debate that didn’t involve YouTube? I, for one, have questions but no video capability (and frankly don’t need it).

My question to the Dems would have been this: Why should I pay for Universal Healthcare when I strive to take care of myself and my family in the best way possible without having to run to the doctor for every pill that gets advertised to me? I don’t ever plan on using it, so why should I contribute to it in the first place?

Another question: Why do you insist on taking away incentive to better one’s self by handing out the very things we should be using as goals for betterment, like health care insurance, retirement, and emergency savings to cover periods of unemployment, unexpected bills, college, etc.?
